I don't know if it's the answer, but the putting the Jacket up to block the glare of the sun was a good answer... better than my guess, but I'm gonna say:

The Jacket was blocking the speakers and you couldn't hear the song you were playing until you moved it someplace else.

There was lag on your TV. You covered the TV with the jacket and played the songs by ear, and your score improved because you weren't watching the out-of-sync fretboard.

I was trying my best both plays.

This happened at around 2 AM.

Again, the jacket was not impeding my play in ANY way beforehand, i.e. it wasn't blocking anything.

SkepticalMario is by far the closest, but that's still not it (if I didn't want to see the notes at all, I could've just turned around). You are right in terms of where I put the jacket (the general location), though.

You covered up the top part of the fretboard, so you could only see the next few notes (like hyperspeed).

OR you covered up your score so you wouldn't worry about it.

DING DING DING

We have a winner!

XD

Works better than I could've imagined. It's pretty much exactly the same as using Hyperspeed.

Really? That actually works?

Well...I guess if it's similar to Hyperspeed, then it should...

except the whole use of hyperspeed is to spread out the notes. Not force you to react faster.

I think whoever said coincidence is right

Nah, not really. The REAL use of Hyperspeed is to make it so that there are fewer notes on the board at the same time, so that there isn't as much clutter and you can read everything better as you're hitting it.

Spreading out the notes helps a bit too, but it's really not nearly as important as recuding clutter...if you're a Hyperspeed user in GH2, try it yourself on GH1, you'll see what I mean.

It's DEFINITELY not a coincidence. Without the jacket I can't 5* CfH period, with it I can 5* 100% of the time.

I've been thinking about this riddle all day at work, so I'm not going to read the replies to the thread, in case someone else got it. Let me have my fun.

-Maybe you modded your SG so you can activate SP with a foot pedal. The jacket was on top of the pedal and you had a hard time activating it.

Oh whatever... I give up.

EDIT: wow... I've been thinking about this all day... and now I found out the answer was that you covered up the TV.... that's the very first thing I thought of...how anti-climactic.

Thank you for this method. I covered my tv with a towel and played the following songs.

Decontrol:+45K for a 5 star
GR2R: up 10 K for a 5 star
Frankenstein: up 15K for 5 stars
BATM: 50 K for 230, 3k off of a 5 star...twice

I also tried the Flood, but that's still impossible

It's not a brand-new tactic, for what it's worth. People do it all the time on Beatmania, as I'm sure Shashakiro here knows. (Sudden+ for the win!)

Still, it wasn't the first thing that popped to my mind. Cool beans - I'm going to go try it on something now, maybe PF. :P

EDIT: About how far do you put the towel? Hyperspeed on, I could barely pull it off when it was very slighty covering it.

As far as I know, it's new when it comes to GH.

I haven't tried it with GH2...don't really see the need, since we already have Hyperspeed.

Ohhh.

I completely misread your post, then. ^^;

And I know that it's new to GH. I meant it's not a brand-new tactic in the world of rhythm. :P

If I ever rebuy Guitar Hero I, I'll try this then.
