Hi all. A few of you may remember me, I used to be much more active on ScoreHero a couple years ago, but my competitive GH/RB days are long over and I've started concentrating on real guitar. I'm coming up on the two-year anniversary of starting electric guitar, which will be in March, and I thought I'd share some of the videos I've made in that time. Of course I'm always looking for constructive feedback/comments/criticism, otherwise I'll never get anywhere.

In no particular order:

Preview: Guthrie Govan, "Wonderful Slippery Thing" & "Waves"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3A9JwXtpWI
I did this video today, I'm starting to learn these songs and this is how far I am in each of them - which is to say, not very far.

Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXSM-h1Zyo
Who doesn't love a Crazy Train cover? I changed the solo a bit, although I realize now I should have done this song over a backing track. Next time.

Steely Dan - Green Earrings (Solo)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u039wxxzBI
I really want to start playing jazz and jazz fusion, and I've always loved Steely Dan and this song and thought this would be a good solo to get me started.

Racer X - That Hormone Thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1xZiDUhiJw
This isn't the greatest cover, but it was fun to do. I can tell how old this video is by the fact that I was still using Ultex Jazz IIIs and my Boss DS-1; these days I use Ibanez Paul Gilbert signature picks and a Fulltone OCD.

Steel Dan - Peg (Live solo cover)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crsl653T56U
Another old video, there's a live version of Steely Dan's Peg that has a solo played by Jon Harrington, who's just incredible.

Ok, now for some really old videos for comparison...

Rush - Working Man (part of it)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orhbPkZtJe4
This was actually an entry for a really old guitar competition thing here on SH. Agh.

Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven (drum intro to end)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdk-iTVOn4E
Again, older than old. Still had my stock pickups at this point. Wat.

And lastly, a throwback to the days of plastar:
Eruption GH2 Custom, 55,667
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VINYjz_RTg0
This was before everyone and their mother could FC TTFAF.

As I said, comments and criticism much appreciated. I do jam a lot with friends, but I'm not in a band (travel too much for school to really commit to anything for too long unfortunately). I'm about 95% self-taught, with the other 5% coming from my uncle, who is a jazz guitar teacher, and my piano teacher, who is also a guitar teacher.

Thanks guys.

You say you love steely dan, i'm assuming you're familiar with the album Aja-my favorite of all time. Nice covers.
