I've been playing since 03. I recorded this in 09. For the record, this is my favorite song, ever.

Nice riff, and amazing sound! I like it, although I'm not really a fan of that type of music.

Anyway, Number of the Beast cover

^Yay, bonus points for sweet Maiden shirt!^

Ok so I've developed that riff into a song now and my bands jamming it out right now. This vid is just a demonstration of my parts in the song, although I did forget my place in one spot:

Don't have a video but I just came to an epiphany about double barre chords.

It is so much easier for me to play the second barre with my pinky instead of my ring finger. My ring finger is too long and barely bends at the joint, but my pinky falls into place so easily on the 4th 3rd and 2nd strings, plus now... I CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THE 1ST STRING RING OUT! My pinky bends so awesomely at the joint, it's almost like a 90 degree angle. Holy fuck I feel so great right now I can actually get good voicings out of double barre chords now.

So I have a question for all of you experts out there, if anyone could please help me out. I'm really stuck.

So, a couple of months ago I decided to basically restart my guitar skills. I was an idiot for exceeding my limits and wanting to become good and fast in a short time. But that's not really so important. What's important, every technique and song I learn, I practice on clean. And on clean, my playing sounds good.
Now the problem appears when I turn distortion on. Anything I play, it triggers the open G string. Really, anything I do, whatever I'm practicing, I somehow hit the fucking G string and it ruins everything.
This wouldn't really be a problem if I knew how I do it. I practice sweep picking - G string rings. I practice octave arpeggios - G string rings. I practice fast licks in pentatonic scale - G string rings, and so on. No matter how much I slow down my playing, I can't understand how I hit it, and it's really rare when it doesn't ring. Did this ever happen to any of you? Can it be that it's because my guitar sucks, and something's wrong with it? Please help out if you can.

I would start by changing your strings. I think sometimes other notes can trigger the G string to ring out; something like this once happened with my snare drum. If I played an F# on my piano my snare drum started vibrating. Sometimes on my acoustic playing the high E string makes my low E and A ring out, very slightly but still audibly. It's got something to do with the specific frequencies of the sound waves "disturbing," I guess, the other strings and making them ring out. I would just change your strings first in case the G string is a little worn and weak.

Changing my strings would maybe fix the problem, I'm not really sure. It's definitely not the other strings that trigger the G string, since it happens all the time, no matter arpeggio or scale I'm playing. And I remember it happening in the past, with other strings, but not as audibly as with these.

I just tried muting the G string with a piece of tape, and everything was fine (But I guess that was to be expected).
