I hadn't realized the "I" in "Dead Island" was a guy hanging from a tree until this trailer. >_> _________________

So this game is coming out on Tuesday, anyone getting it? I put down my preorder today, and I gotta say i'm excited. I don't think any of my friends are getting it though, so if anyone wants to play on xbox once it comes out i'm down.

Fun fact for those that don't know:
This game was announced at E3 2006 and was supposed to be released in 2007.

Nice to see the graphics have come a long way. _________________

Played this for four hours last night and it's pretty good. Combines alot of good stuff from other games into one game with fairly solid melee combat. |

Wait, this came out? Oh shit. I'm still behind on games. I wanted to pick up Deus Ex: Human Revolution and now this?
Damn. Gotta get this. _________________

So... bottom line, is it worth the $60? I'm a huge L4D2 and Dead Rising fan, but the fact that co-op is campaign only makes me a little concerned for the longevity of the game. _________________

Hrmm...That's tough to say. I personally don't like L4D too much as it gets extremely repetitive. This is more like a mix between Borderlands and Dead Rising 2. I imagine people could get at least a playthrough or two out of this game, and putting that at like 20 to 30 hours for an indepth playthrough, I think that warrants the buy perhaps. It's hard for me to completely recommend it, as it does have a few quirks, and everything about it, is mostly what I was wanting, though there doesn't seem to be a huge narrative aspect for it, but that could be a good thing, being more about the survival aspect than a cheesy story being interwoven throughout the game.
I think it's a good game, but my opinion differs from others, such as Deus Ex not being "game of the year" for me and just being an okay experience lol |

So I ended up grabbing it, and it's... different than I was expecting. It's essentially a mash-up of Fallout 3, Borderlands, and Bioshock with a zombie aesthetic thrown on. Multiplayer is superfluous and is plagued by the same problems that killed Borderlands MP- namely, that being at different levels makes the game go to crap. Missions won't save for players that join in, and as far as I can tell the number of enemies remains constant regardless of how many people are playing. Don't get me wrong, it definitely worth owning, but it's much closer to the slow-paced action/rpg/fps of Fallout 3 than Left4Dead 2. _________________
