I used to flat out suck at writing, but after a bunch of trial and error, I think I've finally become decent at putting my thoughts and feelings down on paper. Now that I'm in a band, I've tried my hand at writing some new material, which would benefit the band. I'm the frontman of a band I have in my hometown called "Next Week's Tragedy." I've written two songs, both about the same girl. The first one, which I entitled "Stereotypical Love song," is about my confusion that i've had with my ex-girlfriend, on whether or not I truly believe that we were meant to be together or not. There was a lot of thought, tears, and emotions put into this relationship I've had with her, and it's about questioning if it's worth it. The name "Stereotypical Love Song" is an ironic joke, because one, most love songs are acoustic lovey dovey songs, while this is a hard rock song. Secondly, it's ironic because it's not really a love song at all. I just liked the title. :P

Stereotypical Love Song wrote:

Verse I
Three years ago you came into my life
You made my heart sink when you looked me in the eyes
Then I knew I'd find
That there was no place left to hide
When I was with you I had felt like I was a king
I was ecstatic like I had the world on a string
Then you brought me down
Like a faceplant to the ground...

Chorus
In a world of disarray, In a world where I'm confused
These visions cloud my eyes, and all I see is you
Your smile, so sweet, but I know we can't repeat
This love. I know I can't be crazy, cuz I know you feel me too.

Verse II
You try to hurt me, then you try to break me down
Acting different when your friends are not around
Why can't they see
The girl you are around me?
You go and blame me when things don't go your way
This mental torture starts to cause me to decay
I can't take anymore!
Is it time to settle the score?

Chorus

[solo]

Chorus x2

This song has actually been recorded by me and my band, so a link if you wanna check it out. Our drummer was out on recording day, so I recorded drums, vocals, and lead guitar that day. Twas an exhausting day. :P
Stereotypical Love Song

The second song, I entitled "It's Not Enough." This was written after "Stereotypical Love Song," and it kind of wraps up my feelings about the whole situation about said ex-girlfriend. It's an acoustic song, which I wanted to contradict the first song. It's about the continuing struggles on whether or not I want to continue pursuing this relationship or not, knowing she wasn't too reliable, and wanted out as well, then eventually realizing what I needed to do, which was to let go, and grow up.

It's Not Enough wrote:

Verse I
Where you'd stand, I'd be with you.
Where I'd stay, you'd walk away.
You broke my heart behind my back.
And blamed me for the things I lacked.

Pre-Chorus
One day in a lake of tears, you'll be going down.
No, I won't save you when you drown.

Chorus
It's not enough, the things I'd do.
It's not enough, to keep you content.
It's not enough, to ease my mind
To know I'd find, that it's not enough.

Verse II
And here we'd lay, with you by my side.
I was your best friend, dried your tears when you cried.
I'd always be there when you called my name.
But to you, it was all a big game.

Pre-Chorus II
I remember when you told me this would never die.
Who knew it would all be one big lie?

Chorus

Acoustic bridge/breakdown thingy

Revised Chorus
It's not enough, to give a damn.
It's not enough, to take me for what I am...

NO!

You're not enough, the things you'd do.
You're not enough, to keep me content.
You're not enough, just a waste of time.
Cuz in my mind, you're not enough.
You were never enough...

...bitch...

Heres something new and I want some honest critique on this one because I really think it turned out extremely well!

Listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKVbgQW2Z3M

LYRICS:
Quote:
branching paths but one conscious decision
stemming from the roots of my existence
I wish to raze the grounds and
tear down this tree with my bare hands

I must destroy to regrow
long to hear these words echoed

forget all your past mistakes
your second chance starts today
wipe clean this filthy slate
your second chance starts today

I devastate to regrow
I sink back into the soil
another chance to see
all of my possibilities

sun fades away
slip from my grasp
I grew and grew
but still too slow I see it
behind the horizon
a ticking clock
giver of light show me the path

I aspire to be greater than myself
I aspire to be (I aspire to be)
more than I ever was
I aspire to be greater than myself
I can feel it (I can feel it)
growing inside of me

can I be satisfied

We long to hear
long to hear these words echoed

I long to be more than I am
I feel bound to longing
incapacitation

I long to be (I long to be)
I long to
I long to be

New stuff. I have begun recording, hopefully I can share it with you soon. Until then I present you with the lyrics for my latest song. please enjoy!

Quote:
open your eyes

insights eat away at me
my flesh becomes their home
shedding skin I have grown anew
a newfound sense of understanding

destruction breeds creation
new worlds open up these eyes
once shut deprived of vision
now open and alive

arrogance
told what to believe
ignorance
taught what not to see

am I/any/more than/just a slave
free me/from which/keeps/know-ledge depraved

destruction breeds creation
new worlds open up these eyes
now not deprived of vision
with freedom from disguise
