About to go grab XIII-2 myself. I hope the Collector's edition is worth it. The got me when they said it came with a 4 disc soundtrack. Couldn't pass that up. _________________

I think Bahamut is probably the hardest dark aeon, unless you try to take on the Magus sisters simultaneously.
If you haven't beaten Dark Yojimbo yet, you can use him to farm Ribbon armours; win the first few fights, save and reset. His position will be reset to the back of the cave and you'll keep whatever he dropped before you saved. BHPL + Ribbon + 2 slots isn't that rare, either
(That said, worth remembering that BHPL can often be a hindrance even if you don't have anything better to put in the slot.)
Luck's not too bad to grind, it really isn't. GS and EE are both pushovers, the fights just take... a while |
What is so hard about him? I mean I'm half way through getting luck past 100, so when I've put all of those on the grid I'll try to fight him. But surely the Magus Sisters should easily be the hardest?
Anyway I won't bother with magic yet...I need to beat Jumbo Flan like 15 times...and that just isn't an appealing though.
*Edit*...shit I have just realized something awful about the luck sphere grind. If I want to get 80 luck more for each that means getting 20 fortune spheres EACH...Ah man. Well at least Earth Eater is easier than the sphere. _________________

Yep, that's the annoying part. I really want 255 on everything for everyone (yes, I know that max Luck, Acc. and End. is unnecessary). Just gotta get those 400+ fortune spheres... I think I'm gonna plug my PS2 back in just to see how many I have left.
EDIT: 236 to go. Yay! _________________

You can split the Sisters up and fight them separately (or at least 2-1), which makes them a ton easier. Fought together they're harder than Bahamut, but it's not really recommended. Bahamut's really not that bad, though... Anima kinda comes close to him, as does Shiva iirc. Could be wrong on Shiva though.
Ew, Jumbo Flan. I'm pretty sure I never bothered with MAG on my Penance run, but I could be wrong. Either way, I'm 99% sure it's useless once everything else is already maxed (once you can consistently deal 99999 with QH, and you're not using curative magic because QPing X-potions is way more efficient, what's left for MAG to offer?)
Although yeah... fuck EE _________________

I mean, I get that you have a plucky spirit and a willingness to try new things, but there's a limit, man. | I might knock it down to just Thursday and Friday. |

I think this game is one of the best FF, and im only bout an hour into it. Its just like XIII, but 10000X better at the same time. I can't describe it, just play it. _________________

I'm not really liking the crystarium in XIII-2 so far. I'll see how it goes after upgrading it a bit more though. Other than that, it seems like it could be a pretty good game so far! I didn't look at any videos or anything about it before it came out so I don't know anything about it _________________

Despite my hatred of the previous game, so far, XIII-2 feels like a much better game. I'm still not super fond of the combat system, it just doesn't feel right, but everything else is just alot better, though I am only 2 hours in, but that 2 hours was much better than the 10 I had in the previous one.
Pacing is better, the main characters are good, it feels like I'm accomplishing things, where in the previous one everything just dragged on like crazy. I even like the active cutscene stuff. Makes some parts less of movie and being quicktime events, they do seem to be some of the better done quicktime events, even rewarding you if you do well.
Call me pleasantly surprised that Square is actually trying to better the series based on feedback, rather than telling the fans to screw off and just like whatever they decide works for a new game. |

I agree. I'm so glad the pacing is quicker in this one. Being able to level up through the Crystarium with Paradigm options and customization available from the start is a big improvement. I'm only a few hours in myself, but I can't wait to really get to dive into the game. _________________

What do you mean by that last part? |
you know how multi-disc games come in the case thats like two cases put together? like, the side of VII has two spines that say 'Final Fantasy VII' on it? Well, the front of the game, and that top spine are black label. but the bottom spine is greatest hits. ill put up pictures if thats still not clear enough. _________________

I am getting used to the crystarium a bit more now that I have time to play. I was very disappointed when I got to the casino and clicked on the card tables tutorial and a message popped up, to be unlocked with future downloadable content _________________

Right so update...all of my main characters have luck at 100+ now...
And I have ribbon armour for each of them. Plus I have beaten all but the Magus sisters now. (Not gonna fight them together...delta attack is a huge cockblock).
True to your word Yewb, Dark Bahamut is a fucking nuisance. Random counterattacks with impulse suck. The worst one I've had is a combo of Impulse then Mega flare...not cool!
*Edit* Oh god...trying to hit Dark Mindy is an exercise in patience...
*double edit* Yeah beat all the dark aeons! Now to train up again for Penance...fun. _________________

I'm going to assume that the lack of posts just means that everybody is too busy enjoying the ever living shit out of FFXIII-2. I just finished getting the 1k on it earlier today (80 hours in 9 days... maybe I should've found something else to do in that time too >_>), and thoroughly enjoyed the game from start to finish. It's definitely a far less grindier 1k than FFXIII was, but some of the fragments are jerks, and I'm genuinely surprised I didn't just break down and find a guide for those godawful quizzes. On that note, "Left or Right?" IS NOT A FUCKING QUIZ QUESTION TO TEST ONE'S KNOWLEDGE YOU DICKS. *cough* The 10k coins achievement is quite possibly the dumbest achievement ever, but I was fortunate enough today to nab 50k from one Super Victory Mode spin, so I can't complain too much haha... well I can I did lose like 5k prior to that haha.
Some of the fights were quite entertaining along the way. I have to say the final boss fight has to be one of the harder final boss fights in FF. Shit kicked my arse for about 2 hours before it finally fell to my blades.
The best part for me though: the music. Holy crap I love the music (and I know I've heard mainly who do not like the music, smeh to them) and I'm kinda wish I had've gotten one of the fancy editions that had the soundtrack with it and stuff. Crazy Chocobo 4 lyfe yo.
Anywho, not done with the game yet either. I intend on taming every monster in this game (according to my amazing Excel spreadsheet, only 32 more to tame, I'd just spent the past hour and a half taming Deathgaze so I can only imagine its gonna get worse for some of the rest >_>), and then I'll max 'em all out too. It'll be fun times! Haven't done much chocobo racing either so I'll have to play with that once I've maxed out my golden/silver chocobos.
Also I imagine Lightning/Amodar DLC would be more entertaining if I weren't maxed out. I may have to start another file just to fight them in a non-maxed capacity and see how entertaining it truly can be. Can't wait to see what else they provide us with DLC wise though! _________________

Bought the game on February 2nd and I've only been able to play 1 hour, on like last Wednesday or something. Friggin school word, I wish it wasn't so demanding, I really want to throw in a few more hours of gameplay, because right now I've just unlocked the Crystarium, lol... _________________
