Hi. First time posting in this thread, but yeah I just started running this year and my best time on a 5K is 19:42. I still have 2 more years to improve and my goal is to eventually get under 18 minutes. _________________

That's a great 5k time, already below 6:20 mile pace so I'm sure 18 minutes will easily be within your reach. If you run all year round it should be attainable by next year, and you can keep knocking down your goal time. _________________

The 14:50s I was talking about were for 3-miles. Very rarely did we actually run 5ks, those were usually public races like Turkey Trot, held on Thanksgiving. Anyway the guy still runs, he's only gotten faster as far as I know. I think he was a contender for steeple chase in the Olympics possibly, but I don't think it worked out for whatever reason.
Anyway I don't think I'd ever run competitively again. My best 3 mile time was 18:25 in sophomore year, which I never beat after that. Not like I was ever varsity material at my school :p I would however like to start up running just for exercise someday... someday. XD Not very motivated, but I do plan on it eventually. _________________

This past weekend (well, yesterday) was the NXN Midwest Regional meet, which I guess was my last XC race ever. Personally, the race itself wasn't fantastic because I ran like 19:06 for 5k which is much slower than I have run in the past, and I was very, very far back (I'm talking like, just a few places out of last in a 346 runner race :| ) but the weekend itself was amazingly fun, with a pre-race pasta party and mixer the night before. Jack (my friend) got fifth in the race and so he qualified for the Nike Cross National meet in Portland in December, and he gets a ton of free shit which is just so cool. I'm jealous. I which I could run like him. _________________
