Achievements Without Star Power

First off, I'm new. Hi everyone! Very cool site

I've browsed a lot of the forum and haven't found any posts about what I'm currently doing to challenge myself in Guitar Hero, which is to try to beat all the songs without using any star power. I figure this makes me actually learn how to play those tough solos (to some extent anyway) instead of just blasting through them with star power to save me.

Has anyone else had this same notion? I've currently beaten all of the standard songs on expert this way except for Bark at the Moon, where my fingers just turn to jelly on the last part of the first solo. Cowboys from Hell was hell to make it through but I eventually got it

i normally don't NEED starpower, i can make it through every song without it. So i only use it to maximize my score.

Yeah, maximizing the score is totally the only incentive you get from using Star Power, once you've become good enough at the game.

I have a friend whose only mission is to beat the songs without help from Star Power too. He's one of those guys with the credo that points are nothing, and accuracy is everything. I admire guys who do that in this game. It makes you feel more accomplished, whereas using Star Power to maximize points is just competitive.
