|
|
After seeing that "Inspiration for Midori?" thread the other day, I decided to see if anyone knows where all the characters came from. If there are significant differences between characters between 1 2 and 3 (Judy Nails?), please post screens from an earlier game, as I only have GH3, and don't remember the characters very well in the earlier ones. Similarly, I need good screenshots for Clive Winston and any other characters killed by neversoft.
Xavier Stone:
Clearly Jimi Hendrix.
Midori:
J-Pop inspired, who knows anything about J-Pop?
Lars Umlaut:
Possibly Lordi inspired?
Or maybe just Ace Frehley:
Johnny Napalm:
I don't know punk well enough.
Looks like "two of the members of Rancid":
or Sid Vicious + Liberty Spikes.
Judy Nails:
I still don't know punk well enough.
Apparently inspired by Judita from Scouts of St. Sebastian:
Izzy Sparks:
in GH1/2, partially Slash. He had the tophat. Probably moved more towards glam because Slash is actually in GH3. Winger, possibly. David Lee Roth, too.

Casey Lynch:
I have no idea. Possibly Joan Jett?
Axel Steel:
Wow. I can't believe I never saw Dimebag in Axel! Thanks guys!
Also, Zakk Wylde:
Clive Winston:
Partially Jimmy Page inspired, because Clive will pull out a bow to play with duing SP usage. 60's-70's Clapton for sure.
And the Bonus Characters are obvious, right? _________________

For Johnny I would say his GH1/2 characters looked like Sex Pistols with mohawks. As for his GH3 characters I would say Iggy Pop for his shirtless costume, and the Misfits for his Skeleton costume.
As for Axel, I would say he looks more like Dimebag Darrell than Angus Young
EDIT: Ninja'd me with the same picture lol! It was 4 minutes later, but I was typing and searching slow
EDIT 2: Judy's GH1/2 characters could have been based off of Joan Jett, but I have no clue about GH3. Casey Lynch might have picked up where Judy left off and could be a blonde Joan Jett.
Izzy Sparks could be modeled off of any glam/hair band from the 80's, so I am gonna guess Whitesnake(?). I just saw a video of theirs the other day and they looked kind of like that _________________

I think Clive Winston is based loosely on Jimmy Page. Why, you ask? If I remeber correctly, when you deploy SP on GH2, he pulls out a bow and plays the guitar with it.
But then again, I may be completely wrong and senile.
EDIT: Whoops! Didn't see the end of the OP. I am made of fail _________________

I think Izzy looks a bit like early Bret Michaels but he's not much of a guitarist so I'm guessing C.C with a sweatband? _________________

I think he kind of bears resemblance to Izzy.(Kinda)
Long story short, he's probably based loosely on the generic look of the glam rock era
Edit: To guitarroker, I thought about putting up an image of C.C. But, he doesn't really resemble him much if you look at it alot. Also, for that image, give Kip Winger blonde hair, and BAM, Izzy. Like I said, its probably a compilation of the average glam rock look. _________________

That's the original Clive. He looks like a Beatles member. Say, John Lennon?

In GH3, somewhere at the store when you're looking through the songs, for the description of Minus Celsius it says the guitarist (or singer, I can't remember which) in the band that did the song was an inspiration for Judy. BTW, Axel looks more like Dimebag Darrell. _________________

Who is that? That almost leads me to believe he's a real person |
No idea, just searched Google Images for "death metal guitarist" to find some Lars inspiration and I found this. _________________

Alright, updated, thanks guys!
I disagree about John Lennon->Clive Winston. There's kind of something, but John was much more of a singer/songerwriter than a guitarist. He was the rhythm guitar in the Beatles, after all.
I don't agree with Sex Pistols + mohawks for Johnny. He's 70's punk, so there's going to be a lot of Sex Pistol influence, I'm thinking there's probably something more specific. _________________
