The videos are public now, but the deal with them is that me and Phr34k run on different schedules. I usually record and upload the videos in the afternoon, before the descriptions and such are generated. When he gets home, he adds in the descriptions, sets up the release of the chart on site, and then the videos can be made public.

To the programmers of custom hero/scorehero and anyone else...

Just so you guys know, when a song is submitted for review at customhero.net, an unnecessary duplicate reference to the song is created in the scorehero database, except with no information about track length or album. I found this out the hard way and deleted the second chart while managing my customs in the scorehero database. This took me out of the queue for customhero, and I had to resubmit my track. So for anyone who has noticed that same thing, don't do what I did.

Gotcha. I thought YouTube was just being difficult, but it seems you guys have it all figured out.

You can avoid this by using the "Submit to customhero" tick box in the SH chart update pop-up instead of submitting the chart again to CH directly.
EDIT: Ninja'd by an admin! In an entirely different thread!

It's easy, but:

1) It includes master tracks, so audio will cut out if you miss, and

2) It's still an awesome song.

Last i checked, there werent any songs with s in tier 1 lol.

You guys might wana make that Tier 2 or 3, but that's just IMO.

Also, can we get some sort of section on CH breaking down the different tier's names'?

Why is it taking so long for songs to be accepted to customhero? I mean its been at least a couple months since i submitted my chart and there has been only 5 charts accepted...Come on...If i was a reviewer i would at least a chart every 2 days...With more then 1 person as a reviewer there should be at least 2 charts a week. looks to me a chart every 2 weeks. or more. Pretty bad. And 5 charts jumped in front of mine, WTF?

Im not tryin to be a dick but its kinda ridiculous.

I know theres a process you go through but it shouldn't take 2-3 weeks for idk how many people to release 1 chart.

I feel the exact same way. I've been looking forward to playing new songs and everything that all have good quality, but they so rarely submit new ones, it's not keeping me occupied.

I would just like to know from someone why it takes so long or what the hold up is.

I once felt much the same as the above posters, however I realized that you have to member something: CustomHero.net is a free service which also means that the people reviewing charts are not payed. Some of them have a job, a family, and lots of other higher-priority items to take care of before they spend hours critiquing custom Guitar Hero charts.

CustomHero started on a reputation that they planned on elevating and maintaining a higher level of quality above most custom charts. Ensuring that no chart slips through by meticulously reviewing the submissions is the only way I can think of to effectively generate that higher level of quality that CustomHero strives towards. And nobody can honestly say that every note chart released by CustomHero isn't eons above most charts.

I know you all would like an official staff member from CH to post here, so you can take what you want from the above. However, as a person who is part of a volunteer position, I feel the above details are often overlooked when dealing with situations like this. The entire CustomHero process is new, just give it time. They'll perfect it and start churning out charts faster than they churn out porn in Las Vegas.

I'd like to add on to what nick said.

In the not-so-distance past I told the CH.net staff that I would like to be a reviewer; that I'd enjoy it, that I'd be good at it, that I could get a lot done. This was during the school year, at a time when work-load wasn't horrible. Unfortunately, work-load picked up, and the time I did have to spend on Guitar Hero projects was dedicated to my GH3 PS2 Song Editor, since it was much more interesting than just going through people's charts saying "Yes it's good, way to be." Now school is just awfully demanding, free time is consumed by hanging out with friends, other personal stuff, etc. I reviewed one chart for CH.net, which was a pretty good experience because I have a lot of respect for the author and it was good to work back-and-forth with him to make his chart great, but honestly, with my free time I'm much more likely to be working on GH3 customization or my own personal customization works. And if not, I'm probably working on other personal projects and goals not related to GH.

So in short, I think the reviewers just have more [personally] important things to focus on, and reviewing just sort of takes a back-seat to things that the reviewers actually find personally rewarding. As an un-paid, voluntary position, you can't really ask more of them. I don't know if the real admins of CH.net will feel differently or adjust their policy or recruit more reviewers or what, but I just wanted to give my 2 cents on why it may be taking quite a while.
[/response, may add/edit more tomorrow when I'm sober]

My feelings on CustomHero's release rate are both dissapointed and symathetic. I completely understand that the current staff is very busy with all sorts of other projects and a personal life. Everyone on the internet is entitled to not owe anything to anybody else, and everyone should know that. The thing that dissapoints me, however, is that no action seems to be taking place.

I say that because from a business perspective, the easiest way to fix the issue would be to take on more reviewers. Not just more, but ones that aren't bogged down with software developement, moderation duties, etc. So far, the CH staff has not taken an active search for people like that, who would take the position knowing the time they would like to commit. I think many would step up to the plate if an application process of some sort were put up.

This is a great idea. Maybe 3-5 more reviewers would help the process greatly.

Am I the only one that doesnt mind the rate of chart releases? I mean it is slow but when they put out a new chart it makes my day. That wouldnt happen if there was a chart or charts released everyday. As long as the charts are as high of quality as they have been I say let them take all the time they need.

I do however wish they would either fix the Dead Girl Super Star chart or put up the actual CD they ripped the audio off of.

Them and the charters they are reviewing are doing a phenominal job and as long as they keep it up I dont care how much time passes between releases.

As several others have mentioned, personal life issues have greatly slowed down the progress of this project. The main problem is that most of the chnet staff are also scorehero staff.

Now, as far as adding new reviewers. elx and I have been going through some ideas on how to recruit reviewers in an application process that will allow us to easily find reviewers that meet the standards. Give us a few more days to iron out those wrinkles and I will post up how that process will work.
