Should active euthanasia be legal?

If they are truly suffering and nothing can be done, at their request it is alright.

Well it's debatable, if a person gets the news that their days are numbed, they will obviously consider ending their lives. To avoid the pain, suffering etc.

But everyone knows that people have lived after being told they only have weeks or months left to live. And that people who once lived in constant pain have recovered.

So if someone did end their life because they felt they were suffering too much, there is always a chance they could have recovered, so assisted suicide may seem right to some people, but this would make it too easy for people to find a quick escape from pain. When they could go on to live full lives.

I believe assited suicide should be legal, and you should just use your better judgement of whether or not to help them....

I don't see what the big issue is on who is delivering the dose. I agree that it should only be an option for the terminally ill with zero percent chance of recovery and not for suicidal/depressed people. They got themselves into whatever trouble and shouldn't be allowed an easy escape from it. For medical reasons, however, a person, if they request it with full cognitive faculty, should be allowed to be euthanized. Does it really matter at this point if it is a doctor or a nurse, or an impersonator? The person gets their wish fulfilled do they not? And at this point in their life, they aren't contributing at all to society and being killed would allow for their wants to be realized and society/the family gets more money to spend. It's a win-win situation. I don't see the gray area here.

There should be something like a 3 month period between when you apply and when you go through with it. You might be able to work some issues out during that time.

as somebody who watched their grandma slowly die from Alzheimers, i would be for euthanasia. in some situations it just seems like the right thing to do
