For best Punk Act - Leftover Crack Fusing hardcore and ska has been done before, but never in such epic proportions. Hailing from New York, Leftover Crack formed after the disbanding of the short lived yet influential Choking Victim. In 2001 they put out a record called Mediocre Generica that was rife with political and social commentary revolving around the situation in New York. This was made infamous not only by the subject matter itself, but more so by the release date, September 11th. The band's following release, Fuck World Trade, was an even bigger hit. Propelled by the anthem-like 'One Dead Cop,' Fuck World Trade is already considered one of the most important records of this decade and is also considered a masterpiece among fans. _________________

I don't know what I'm supposed to say in response to that, but I thought this post was hilarious. _________________

I'm not unadventurous, I just posted what I think is the best in each category |
The mean unadventurous as you put nearly the most mainstream artists possible in each category. Adventure = going out and discovering new music in this context. |

Best pop album: Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster - See above. Pop perfection, pretty much. |
So..after this post I gave Gaga a chance and got the albums.
Honestly, I don't regret that decision, I LOVE these albums. So thanks for the suggestion, these are terrific pop albums. I second this Pop album/act vote. _________________

I'm not going to do alot, I think there's only 2 categories that I want to do.
Best Alternative Act: My Chemical Romance
Serioulsy. These guys have blown me away. While you could consider their first album not very Alternative, I consider them now to be so. The only others I would consider for this would be Paramore, or Rise Against.
SH #1 Song of the 00's: Song Of The Century(Green Day)
I needed to do it. This is really because I don't see a clear winner coming out of this, unless I start a trend or something.
Best Alternative Album: Paramore - Brand New Eyes
When I first heard Riot! I was sure this would be one of my favorite albums for awhile. I was wrong. Brand New Eyes doesn't have the punk side of Riot! but it most definitely has a big alternative feel, and it's something I really like. The only other things instead of Riot that I could choose for this would be "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge" or "Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace".
That's all I want to nominate, for now...?[/b] |

I honestly stopped caring when I saw that Buckethead had been put in before anyone responded. How about setting an end date and then letting people vote up to it before closing off certain things with the winners that you want?
Might as well do a couple:
Parama wrote: | For best debut album: De-Loused In The Comatorium - The Mars Volta
The debut by prog rock band The Mars Volta is definitely their best work. There's loads of energy, great musician ship, and diverse songwriting, ranging from mellow songs like Televators to incredibly manic songs like Take The Veil. The concept is present but not understanding it won't hurt your appreciation of the album. And well, it's just a really cool album in general. |
That.
And...
Best progressive rock/metal act: Protest The Hero. I don't think that needs any further explanation. If it does, "go and listen to Kezia" will probably suffice.
Best progressive rock/metal album: Protest The Hero - Kezia. Again, needs no explanation other than "listen to it".
Best pop album: Sugababes - Overloaded: The Singles Collection. They are responsible for the two best pure pop songs ever recorded. Unfortunately they're on two separate albums, so I had to choose the greatest hits to get them in one place. This is pretty much faultless. _________________

Best Punk Act: Mewithoutyou (although pretty far off from traditional punk)

Not voting, but perhaps add foreign music categories? And maybe categories for covers (song, album, artist, etc.)? |

He was nominated twice and I was the third time, which is the number of times I have set to enter nomination, I added him in with a wonderful button called edit, surely at 6000 posts you are somewhat familiar with it. You PROBABLLY wanna read the thread next time before you make such a harsh and really dumbfounded remark. It was never closed, he was nominated. And there will be no end date untill there are a decent number of nominies in each catagory.
Thanks for not reading any of this thread and posting a blindly thrown flame! *thumbs up*
edit: Lol so busy replying to that hurtfull little mess that I forgot to update . Now entered in is:
Them Crooked Vultures- Them Crooked Vultures for Best Debut
The Mars Volta - De-Loused In The Comatorium for Best progressive rock/metal album.
Radiohead as most influential artist
Brad Paisley as best country act
and I second:Raikri999 wrote: | I'm not going to do alot, I think there's only 2 categories that I want to do.

Yeah, chill out. I did read it. It doesn't say anywhere about it not being closed off. It also doesn't say anything about getting put in there after three nominations, so how the fuck are we supposed to know that? I've taken a screenshot so don't bother editing it in and trying to pretend it was there all along. And yes, it looked like you just threw it in there because you wanted it:
You wrote: | And I'm just gonna go ahead and put buckethead in because, well..... |
So yeah, take your sarcasm and use it on someone who deserves it.
Also, you might want to learn what 'dumbfounded' means, because it's not what you think it is. _________________
