Journey- Don't Stop Believin'
IMO this is a hard list to make.
All of the Beatles is good, but it is hard to pick some that everyone must know. I can't say I've ever heard Good Morning, Good Morning.
I like Green Day "When I Come Around", but I don't really consider that one of their tops hits.
Honestly, I would really only consider one hit wonders stuff "everyone" should know.
I'm just saying, looking at the list, I haven't even heard some of these specific songs. I wouldn't expect anyone over 25 to have ever heard of Franz Ferdinand. And I wouldn't expect many high schoolers to be able to identify Start Me Up. Just saying, this list is hard to make.
Also, the Happy Birthday song _________________

When I Come Around isn't one of their top hits, but everyone I've shown it to has been like "OMG that song". And the riff of Start Me Up is instantly recognizable. _________________

Naw, I'm sorry but half of your list really are songs that I am not familiar with. If I've ever heard these particular ones, they are long forgotten. _________________

Some of these seem like strange choices... I'd think songs like Hey Jude or I Wanna Hold Your Hand would be more widely known than Lucy and Good Morning.
I'd agree with a majority of your picks, but I definitely haven't heard some of these, or at least I don't know them by name. But then again I probably haven't listened to the radio in the past 5 years. I'd vote for several of these to be removed, but I don't want to look like an idiot for not knowing them.
Some fairly obvious (I hope) additions:
Village People - YMCA
John Lennon - Imagine
Bon Jovi - Livin' on a Prayer
KISS - Rock 'N Roll All Nite _________________

I didn't know 6 of those - the green day ones, start me up, blowin in the wind, and two others.
Otherwise I know them. Although about another 5 or 6 I only know from guitar hero or rock band. _________________

I don't know either Green Day song, and Good Morning Good Morning is not a Beatles song I immediately recognize, they have MANY more songs I would recognize before that. _________________

Good Morning Good Morning oughta be replaced with Hey Jude. EVERYONE knows Hey Jude.
Also, Mr. Roboto - Styx
EDIT:
I Want You Back - Jackson 5
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Everlong - Foo Fighters
Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Every Morning - Sugar Ray
Space Oddity - David Bowie
In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins
Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen
I'm sure there's a lot more out there.

Kansas - Carry on Wayward son
Animals - House of the rising run
not gonna list some ones I really don't like such as you gotta fight for your right to party.
A good deal of oldies songs also...
EDIT: House of the rising SUN _________________
