From what I read on their Facebook page, this game will be for guitar, but there's nothing preventing them from trying out bass in the future since they're using frequency analysis.
So it won't work with a six string bass unless you tune it properly. _________________

Hopefully the end result doesn't look like that because...well...THAT...looks very hard to read, and would turn a lot of people off, including myself. You'd be focusing more on what the hell is on screen rather than what frets you're trying to press and what strings to hit. _________________

I'm fine with them blatantly not mentioning Rock Band 3, but the guy at the end "Oh this isn't out there yet" is a flat out lie, and I heavily disapprove. _________________

Ubisoft is being so very careful about the wording they use to promote RockSmith without acknowledging Rock Band 3 that they had to have known that one quote was dishonest at best. They probably left it in so that they could mislead the public. |

man this is gonna be bad. i dont know how company spend so many cahs on these types of game anymore. they all think its gonna be a success hit, but the fact is, they'Re all boring and get a 9.99$ price tag after one month. thats a major loss of money. who the hell in the video game business still approve this. _________________

Not Ubi's fault people don't know that Rock Band has a real guitar you can buy... _________________

It is their fault that they're implying that Rocksmith is the only rhythm game that lets you use a real guitar. That's a lie. |

Well, they do market it correctly: it currently is the only game that lets you use any guitar you happen to have lying around, as opposed to Rock Band 3, which is still using the MIDI format from the previous games. As such, it requires a special guitar coupled with a MIDI adapter and sadly not any guitar I happen to have.
I know that Rocksmith requires an adapter for the 1/4 inch jack, but that's all you're going to need in terms of extra stuff.
Good thing that the gameplay is a work in progress. I sincerely hope they'll clean it up before the final release. _________________

"Ultimately seems more intuitive and exact than Pro Mode in Rock Band 3" - GameInformer
Playstation Magazine Article
GameInformer Article
David Bowie – “Rebel Rebel”
The Black Keys – “I Got Mine”

Weren't various sources saying Ubisoft was planning for a Fall 2011 release? The GameInformer article shows Fall 2012. By the time they release this, some other game could have been released to use any guitar and RockSmith won't even have any "firsts" to claim anymore. |

Pretty sure that's a typo given the fact that they are showing it at E3 and Gamestop has 2011 shown _________________
