Double win as far as I'm concerned. GH need a reboot anyway. |

This makes me very happy and a little sad, as Kotick said, DJ Hero is a great series, it just had a small demographic (and less people willing to shell out so much for a turntable).
On the other hand MOAR GUITAR HERO!!! _________________

Kind of a shame a reboot has to come at the expense of trashing DJ Hero which was also great. But I guess whatever it takes. |

There was a small group of people that loved it and then there was everyone else that wanted to throw that fucking crossfader in a fire. |

Pretty much this. Still, it's sad that Neversoft isn't around anymore. It won't be the same without them. |

What would a reboot entail for Guitar Hero? For most franchises a reboot means resetting the story and starting over fresh (basically, just to retell it in sometimes different wording). _________________

Will not remove this in my signature until "Unholy Confessions" by Avenged Sevenfold is added to Rock Band DLC.

Still don't wanna remove it! Happy it's here, though! |

2009 is were it whent wrong and not just because of DJ Hero.
GH:M, GH:VH, GH:SH, GH:5, Band Hero AND DJ Hero were re-leased in that year.
6 games over 12 months!
That completely ruined online gameplay and make the community shatter and die.
That is the entire problem.
They should have done the same as L:RB.
No online mode but you can import all songs to the main game so people continue to play that.
O well, more songs to FC I might get over 800 now _________________

This man speaks truth. If you weren't a die-hard Guitar Hero fan, 2009 was sure to burn you out.
Bobby Kotick's explanation is both erroneous and disingenuous. He shouldn't be blaming DJ Hero for the downward spiral of Guitar Hero, he should be looking in the mirror. And it's not exactly that Guitar Hero wasn't innovating either (see: GH5's flood of new modes plus party play).
Greed was the downfall of Guitar Hero's mindshare. Flooding out 5 GH titles in the space of a year in lieu of drilling down and focusing really destroyed the market.
I'm not laying blame on Neversoft or Vicarious Visions or any of the other developers who were tasked with making those games. If anything, I have to give the staff at Neversoft yet another pat on the back for how many good features GH5 ended up with despite all those interference from ATVI corporate. _________________

Yeah, I agree. I think the oversaturation and the release of so many games per year killed the series. I mean, when you think about it, if so many games are released at once, it's very hard to keep up with everything. Basically, a new game comes out, you work on it, and once you're getting scores you want, all of a sudden a new game is coming out, and you wouldn't be able to improve scores on a previous game if you wanted to get the new game. Basically, with so many games, it's hard to find the time and money to keep up.
Still, I wonder how the reboot will turn out. Maybe it's not the end of GH after all... _________________
