|
|
We've just finished work on ScoreHero's integrated reporting system. Now users have the direct ability to contact the staff without having to message whichever staff member may be online individually. This system can be thought of as IRC's SH-Bot, but for the site.
With the system now live, fake score reports on the forums will no longer be tolerated. Posting these on the forums will result in at least a 7 day temp ban, at worst a permanent ban.
Around the forums, in the Custom Songs database, and on the leaderboards, you will see some changes reflecting the system's integration. On the forums, in the top-right hand corner of all posts, you will see the report icon ( ). Clicking this will bring you to the reporting interface to report the selected post. In the Custom Songs database, you will see the same report icon on the far left of every custom chart. This is meant to report a custom chart to the staff.
On the leaderboards, next to every score you will see the same report icon as shown above. Clicking this initializes a report for the score selected. You will also see a text link that reads "Report these scores." underneath the score summary box of the person who's scores you're viewing. This is a special reporting feature known as a User Score report. This should be used to report a user's entire scores from the selected Game, Platform, and Difficulty. Keep in mind that the User Score report link will not be visible if scores are not visible.
The system is versatile enough to where you don't need a specific predetermined report type to file a report. These reports are known as general reports, and can be filed by simply clicking this link. From there you will start your report. When using this general report type, you should be very specific in your message to ensure your report is clearly portrayed to the staff. This reporting mode was designed as the "other" category, allowing you to report oversized / offensive avatars, rule-violating signatures, and other misdemeanors that don't fit into the reporting types above.
You will also notice a new link in your Private Message inbox. This link is an add-on to the current system to allow you to view confirmation PMs. When you submit a report with the system, you will automatically receive a confirmation message signifying your report was received by the staff and will be taken care of.
Only registered users may file reports, so the above changes will not be visible to those who are not registered and logged-in. It is important to note that reports can not be completed without a reason describing why the report is being filed. This reason is your justification on why you feel it's necessary to file the report. It also serves as a note to the staff as to why you filed your report.
Just to lay out a set of guidelines, here's some Do's and Don'ts regarding this system.
Do:
- Report scores that appear to be false.
- Report users that are obviously spamming the leaderboards or forums.
- Report posts that violate any of ScoreHero's rules, are vulgar and obscene in nature, or otherwise offensive.
- Report Custom Charts that are in any of the Guitar Hero or Rock Band series, including DLC.
- Report Custom Charts that are fraudulent. That is, their download link leads somewhere other than a file download site, etc.
Do NOT:
- File reports for an illegitimate reason. Abuse of the reporting system will result in a ban.
- File multiple reports for the same issue.
- File multiple reports for more than one of a particular user's scores. Instead, file a User Score report and note which scores seem suspicious in your report reason.
- Report Custom Charts that are, in your opinion, poor quality, out of sync, etc.
- Report Custom Charts with broken links or missing files. Explanation Here
Let us know if anything unexpected arises, and enjoy! _________________

I was beginning to wonder what the "Report This Post" button was
Good work!
EDIT: A quick suggestion, after filing a report, would it be possible to have links on the page where it says, "Report Filed"? _________________

Nick deserves all credit for making this system a reality. He's spent the past month off and on developing, testing, and tweaking things to be ready for public use.
This is a much needed improvement which will help us all to keep on top on things across the site. Thank you Nick, and I hope everyone else finds this useful. _________________

this is a much needed feature with so many users with only a small number of mods. looks like we get to back seat moderate easier.
also after the report is filed, what happens exactly? do mods check the reports filed or are some just automatically dealt with? |

Great! We can finally handle those 1,000,000-scores quickly.
Nice job! _________________
