Jordan FC Guide
Introduction
Hi and welcome to my Jordan FC guide. So you want to FC Jordan? Well as you probably have noticed, it’s a really tough song, both to pass and FC. So if you want to learn this song don’t expect an FC in a week, only GHP and JLC etc. can do that.
Edit: I have now FC'd this song. I started practicing it an August 2008 and I FC'd it the 18:th of June 2009 so it took me almost a year. And for the record I have had 11 post solo C misses...
My FC vid (with hands): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRxXECUKxNU
My choke montage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYFM8IxENp8 <--- Watch and laugh at my misery...
So why am I writing a guide when there are a few already? Simply because I’ve gone through this learning process and noticed that all fingerings does not work for all people so I spent hours searching for ways to hit the solos and to look at other persons fingerings can get you a long way. And my final fingering turned out to be pretty different from several other guides. And I also have many tips by now to avoid all “Why the h*** did I miss there!?!?!”-moments.
And also this is my first guide so an constructive criticism, comment or anything else is much appreciated.
General tips
This is actually for all songs that you want to FC.
First of all: get a webcam/video camera/capturecard etc. and record while you practice. Every now and then while practicing a certain section I too have experienced the “Why the h*** did I miss there!?!?!”-situation. If you recorded you can just watch the clip and see which note you missed and also which frets you held down and hopefully you can figure out what you did wrong and how to fix it.
Another thing is to not rush to higher speeds. In really difficult solos (like solo B and C in Jordan) one FC on slow will not be enough to get to Full speed. You have to practice more on slower speeds and be pretty consistent on one speed to go to the next. And sometimes it can be good to go down one speed if you’re doing really bad sometime, I’ve done that a lot of times.
And finally, if you think it’s really boring sometime, like if you’re not making any progress or so, give it a rest. It can actually help to take a break and playing too much is one of the biggest causes to that people quit playing GH.
Ok, now onto the Jordan stuffs
Key:
1: Index finger
2: Middle finger
3: Ring finger
4: Pinky
Red number: Tapping
Green number: Sliding
Gtr Break
__
112123234112123112123234112123234112123234(34)
123123123123123123123123123123123123123123(23)
These are the most common fingerings and I use the one on the top. Try both and then decide which fits you the best. This section should not be too difficult to get consistent at just start on slowest/slower and work your way up.
Gtr Break - Solo A vid w/ hands
Gtr Solo A

Nothing difficult here. I use every HO/PO except the green where I’ve underlined the number. You can strum as many notes you want, just do what you think fits you the best. I also suggest that you start learning to whammy SP notes from slower speeds. The first sustain in this part is a Star Power note.

3 43243243143142142132132143143142142132132123 ____
Now this is the first tricky part and I think these fingerings are pretty common. I use the one on the top. If this for some reason is very hard for you, you can take the , -things as . And the last two trips and the sustain are SP notes so you should get used to whamming this from the start.
Gtr Break - Solo A vid w/ hands
So those two sections were the “easy” ones. Prepare for a wall of notes!
Gtr Solo B
First part:
3233231111111111211111111111211111211111111111211111111111211111211111111111211111111111211111211111111111211111111212
3233231211212122322121313132423132423131312122322121211112221112221111212122322121313132423132423131312122322121211212
OMG, tapping! xD Well this section is really fast so tapping is needed (if someone FC this with one hand he deserves a BIG price). Well these are just two examples and you can mix them how you want just do what you think fit yourself best. I use the fingering on top and I only tap with my index, BUT I actually recommend you to try with two fingers first. Why? Because I think it’s easier to get it on higher speeds that way. So why am I using the one finger-method? Simply because my right middle finger don’t have the stamina for it. I could FC it many times in a row for like 5 minutes but then my right index finger “died” and could hardly get up to 4X. Therefore I spent another week to learn the one finger-method.
A small thing that helps a lot is to hold down green, red and yellow at the start.
Something you should be much aware of is that this is GHII, not GHIII or GH:WT, which means you’re not allowed to hit ascending ghost notes (a ghost note is a note you take that doesn’t exist). What difference does that make? you may ask. Well in the last part of Gtr Solo A I said that you can do the part as , where the yellow is the ghost note. You can take those ghost notes since they are descending. However in Gtr Solo B you have parts that look like this: which should be played something like this: 111222 If you should press the second red before the yellow you’ve taken an ascending ghost note and that will break your HO/PO combo, not your streak, your HO/PO combo which forces you to strum the next note to get it. That’s nothing you want in a tapping solo. So you have to press the yellow first, then the red and then the next yellow. That gives you approximately 0,13 seconds to hit the red note so timing is crucial!
Second part:
____
111211212312323123121213111112111111111112121213131321213121212111112111113121212111111111111111111111111111111313 ____
212312312312312312311122211122211111111112121213131321223221212111122211123221212112121211111112121211111114141414 ____
This part is actually harder than the first part. I use the top fingering (as always) and then I’ve added a two finger-method.
First of all there’s a set of trips which are quite fast so use the method you feel most comfortable with. Then we have more tapping but this time you have to move up two steps in a few times which can make it difficult to maintain the right speed. And in that section (:) I’ve seen many people get repeating “Why the h*** did I miss there!?!?!”-situations, simply because they press the second blue before the orange or the forth yellow before the blue. Keep that in mind and that short part will be a lot easier.
Then we have the only divergence in the pattern (if you’ve not yet noticed the pattern, it’s a tap-left hand-tap-pattern). It’s on the underlined two that there are two notes between the tapping notes. It’s nothing to worry about but if you don’t know about it, it can throw you of.
And in the last part, the long and changing trill, the last orange is a whammy note. That’s why I take the two last oranges with my pinky, to have enough time to get my hand to the whammy bar.
Solo B - Solo C vid w/ hands
That’s it for Solo B. Now over to Solo C
Gtr Solo C
First part:
___
12 ___ 1211123123211121121112123432123123211121121112123
34 ___ 3432123123211231232112123432123123211231232123234
Ok, Solo C consists of four different sections with pauses in between. The first part is really fast and it’s difficult to get consistent on it. And you’ve guessed it, I use the top fingering. I tap those notes to get a slightly higher consistency. If I don't tap I often hold down the blue too long or release the yellow after before the blue.
Unimportant note: In my FC I forgot to tap the second blue
The first two notes are Star Power-notes so always whammy the orange sustain. And on the blue after the sustain you should activate your SP, preferably with the select button. I wouldn’t recommend that you try to squeeze the living shit out of the note since I prefer an FC before a note missed because of squeezing.
I don’t have any good tips for this part. It’s mostly about finding the a way that fits you. Personally I like to slide from red to green as you might see. And I see the
-part as and since the red ghost note I descending it won’t cause any trouble, instead it gives a continuous pattern which makes it easier to hit.
This part is considered to be the second hardest part in Solo C. The next one is considered the hardest.
Second part:
1111111212111121211212313112343211123231234321112323432111232
This part starts with a short strumming part which is a lot harder than it looks. Most people say “Just strum really fast and hope you FC it”. I say the opposite: Use the Hammer-on and do two down-up strums. Just make sure you make a small pause between the strums or you’ll strum the hammer-on note and miss the last strum note.
The rest of this part is fast but it's sweeps so it's pretty basic. I don’t have any good tips other than: Fret fast.
The only thing that I do is to tap some of the notes in the beginning because I have slow fingers.
Third part:
34 232323211212313132121211121234321432143211212
This part is the easiest in Solo C. Some tapping and a couple of sweeps. With some practice you should get pretty consistent at this part.
Fourth part:
___
1231123123123123123132112311231231231231231321123412121121222121222123 ___
1231123123112312312321112311231231123123123211123412121112131211131212 ___
1231212212231231231213211212122122312312312132123411111231323132323134 ___
Now this is just a bunch of triplets and then it ends with a tapping part. But yet again, the speed makes it difficult. I’ve given you three examples this time and, as always, mine is at the top and you can mix these methods to make them fit you.
The last blue is the Blue Note of Freedom (BNoF) and it’s actually the first note of Solo D but it’s better to practice as if it was there then to miss it in a real run.
Solo B - Solo C vid w/ hands
Gtr Solo D and Gtr Solo E
These don’t even deserve to be called solos because they are very easy compared to everything else in the song. If you miss here, I don’t think you’re good enough to FC Jordan.
If you want a tip anyway I have one: Strum HO/Pos
Gtr Solo F
This solo is not as fast as solo B and C but it can be a real pain in the ass, especially if you’ve FC’d up to this during a real run. It starts off with a strumming part which is pretty slow so I’m not going to chart it up. Then comes the fast part:
112112112112343211432111432112121234123234321232323212132111234112121211123412344444434232321112
The biggest problem with this part is the speed. It’s really easy to do it too fast but with some practice you should get used to it. And again I tap a couple of notes because my fingers are too slow.
The only part that can give you some trouble is the “Orange Streak of Death”. Just remember that there are six orange notes and the first one is a hammer-on. The notes directly after can also give you some trouble and my tip there is to hold down the blue during the orange notes then it’s just to let of the orange to get the blue.
Solo F - Bridge vid w/ hands
I suggest that you practice Solo F and the next section together because you need to be able to FC those sections pretty constantly and the transition is good to practice
Bridge
211411211411211411311411211411311411211411211311
This part plays four times and then it ends like this:
2113114
This section is all about timing. You only need to strum every second green and Hammer-on/Pull-off the rest. This does require LOTS of practice to get the right timing. I try to hold my hand a bit away from the guitar neck so it takes some time for my fingers to hit the frets. Using that technique I can strum and start to move my fretting finger at the same time.
If you’ve practiced it a lot and still can’t get you can try to strum every note.
The last note is a part of Chorus 3 but as with the BNoF you should practice as if it was there so you don't miss it in a real run. And you also have to activate Star Power on that note. It’s a very difficult activation since you have to activate IMMEDIATELY after the last green or you’ll override the next SP-phrase. Many choose not to do this activation just to prevent them from ruining their first Jordan FC. But if you practice from slower speeds that you should press the select button (I do not recommend tilt activation here) immediately after the last green and Hammer-on the orange you should be fine.
Solo F - Bridge vid w/ hands
Star Power
I recommend that you use this path: 80% squeeze
If you choose not to do the activation immediately after Bridge you should activate on the orange right after the last SP-phrase.
And to get the BNoF under SP requires some serious early whamming so don’t restart just because you didn’t get it under SP.
And if you for some reason decide that you want to squeeze the living shit out of this song you should use this path: Upper bound
Ok that’s all I have to say. I hope you learned something and if you have any question or anything, post a reply or PM me and I’ll do what I can to give you an answer.

Very nice guide toblin. I particularly like your C2 method. I'll try it as soon as possible.
And you might want to fix your typo in the title :P _________________

I use a very different tapping method for Solo B and I can hit it semi-consistently on full speed. I've made hands videos already of my method, and I've freticon'd the solo in my accomplishment thread. If you want to add it to the methods you've already listed I can PM you the fingering and links to my hands vids. If not, I won't be insulted. |
Thanks for the comment
And your fingering was quite interessting, I don't think I've seen it bofore. PM the fingering and videolinks andI'll put it in my guide. _________________

Wow, that's crazy, you barely tap anything in C. I tap like 60% of the notes lol. _________________
