Making Gen. Chat Private?

Could we make the General Chat forum private only to registered members? It feels like some of the posts (as well as mine) are quite personal. I realize that these are being posted on the internet, where everyone has access, but I can't see how it could do any harm.

I see your reasoning behind why you would want it to be private, but I really don't think we should. GH/RB are dead. If we are going to get any new members, it's more than likely going to come from someone browsing GCC and signing up to respond to something. It's really the only forum that keeps this place alive to be honest. Plus there are several times I browse around the forums without ever logging in. GCC is one of the few places I visit anymore. I'd hate to take that extra 2 seconds to log in just to view the rant or nfl thread :P

To put it simply, it would defeat the purpose of the forum as a whole. Making it an "exclusive club" doesn't really help anyone. If you don't want others to see personal information about yourself, don't post it.
