I overstrum like a mofo whenever I play, but if I try using the hopos, I just do worse. How does one get consistent at the strumming parts?

I'm pretty sure I use every single hopo in that song lol. GH3 has the infinite front end window, so you are probably overstrumming because you are fretting before you strum. It would work on literally any other engine, but not on there.

That's probably right. I found that if I anchor G for the intro/outro, I miss waaaay more than if I don't anchor (strumming it all).

I gotta learn the actual hopos I think. I just can't keep a combo more than a 4x multiplier or so with any consistency. Any tips for effectively using the hopos?

Well during the intro, I strum the beginning of it as
Code:

D U D U D U H  D U D H U H D U D

I'm not really sure what else to say. You just have to recognize how stupid the engine for that game is, and as long as you strum in the general area of when the next note is, the hammeron will apply first, then you will strum the next note.

Make sure you fret before you strum and make sure you strum in groups of 1 and 3. For the groups of 3 strum them like a quick triplet.

For parts like the start of post insanity 2 (after the SP phrase) and the beginning of rampaging dragons I usually downstrum the first note and then do a really quick triplet so that I end on a downstrum instead if an upstrum.

Strum earlier than you should, or use all HOPOs. If you're going to use the HOPOs just make sure you don't actually follow the song and focus on the notes. Keep in mind that you have to be one sixteenth behind the song. GH3 is dumb.
