Best Japanese band ever = Mono.
C'mon captain, back me up on this one, I know you like some of the weird and wonderful music that I do.
But yeah...on topic, I've never heard of anything on the list except Ruby, which kinda sucks. The song, that is. So...yeah, guess we'll have to wait to see the notecharts, heh. _________________

100%, yo.
I never considered Mono for a Guitar Hero game but... wouldn't it be epic? _________________

Ha! Imagine Art Of Life on GHIII, 29 minutes of awesomeness. Don't know how they'd get around the 10 minute piano solo though. _________________

I love the new songs. I guess it's a nice fresh breath of air. I love Avalacha and Mauvais Garcon. Greatest announcement yet. _________________

Just finished checking out these songs on Youtube, here's some opinions:
• Minus Celsius (by the Backyard Babies)
Pretty catchy pop-metal tune.
• I’m in the Band (by the Hellacopters)
Good, classic rock sounding song. Should be a blast to play.
• Take This Life (by the In Flames)
I love In Flames.
• Hier Kommt Alex (by Die Toten Hosen)
This will be a blast, good, classic punk tune.
• In the Belly of a Shark (by the Gallows)
This song is amazing, should be very fun to play.
• Avalancha (by the Heroes Del Silencio)
Another classic rock sounding tune, should be a blast.
• Ruby (by the Kaiser Chiefs)
Eh, it's okay. I'd play it in GHIII. Not that great though. Too radio friendly for my tastes.
• Closer (by Lacuna Coil)
Sounds pretty good. Should be fine to play. Definately not my favorite on this list.
• Generation Rock (by Revolverheld)
It's okay, playable. Not great though.
• Mauvais Garcon (by Naast)
Sounds pretty good. Kinda like Jet, but French.
• Radio Song (by Superbus)
Fun, catchy song. Should be a blast. Kinda reminds me of the B-52s, but with much more tolerable vocals. |

I believe there is an edited version, so they could always use that.
But if we're talking about 20+ minute songs, it's all about A Change of Fucking Seasons. |

I'm not sure about Mono, they make really delicately balanced music, and unless it's heard exactly how it was intended, it can sound a bit, well, crap. I'm not sure how well represented all the effects could be though. _________________

If they put any Japaene artists in, The Pillows (who did the /flcl soundtrack) would be insanely awesome. But I'm biased. _________________

So I finished listening to these songs on youtube and wherever. Reactions:
"Avalancha" - definitely the best of the bunch. Kick-ass, epic-sounding number. I think I'm actually going to go buy this song on iTunes if I can.
"Ruby" - Meh. Sort of catchy, but I'm not to keen on it right now.
"Hier Kommt Alex" - Boring. Can't see this one being much fun.
"Closer" - Heh, I couldn't even hear the guitars in the mix. It seems REALLY easy. I love Cristina Scabbia's voice, though, so I'll probably enjoy playing it.
"In the Belly of a Shark" - Absolutely unlistenable. I couldn't get one minute into the youtube vid before turning it off. Awful vocals in particular.
"Generation Rock" - Eh, not too keen on this one either. Definitely needs a guitar solo to make it interesting.
"Radio Song" - Catchy. Catchy as hell, actually. It'll be nice to have more than one song with good female vocals in Guitar Hero 3. That bass track sounds like it could be equally fun, too.
"Mauvais Garcon" - Bad. Another "chords changes galore" song.
So right now I'm feeling like the best of the 11 are "Avalancha," "Radio Song," and "I'm in the Band." Most of them seemed surprisingly easy. I hope more than just one bonus spot is reserved for those "too hard to be in the main setlist" type songs. But, damn, "Avalancha" is up there with "La Grange," "Cities on Flame," "Rock You Like Hurricane," and "One" as the five best songs in the game so far.
Edit: Shit. I just realized there's a four-minute version and a six-minute version of "Avalancha" floating around out there. I initially listened to the six minute version. The short one is lacking part of the brief solo, some of the end choruses (under which were some awesome bluesy licks) and the first verse, in which the mid-verse guitar fill was phrased differently (and better) than the other times we hear it. And you just know the short one's the one that'll be in the game, because people have no fucking attention spans. |

There will not be any 'localized' versions of GH3. These European songs will also be on the US copies of the game, and the Australian copies of the game - there will only be one edition. This has been confirmed. _________________

I love Lacuna Coil, but I really think they could have chosen a better guitar track than Closer. That's gotta be easy to play. As for the much-debated In Flames song, I'm not a huge fan of them, and the whole screaming act wears a bit thin with me, but under that was a pretty sick guitar.
I can see it being kinda like Six or TLTB for me- hate the vocals, but will play it purely for the guitar. Likewise, ill play Closer, just because it's a decent song. Haven't listened to the rest yet, might just wait until I try them on GH3, to get a 'what the hell is this s*** doing in here?' reaction, ala Yes We Can/Red Lottery. _________________

Six ended up being one of my absolute favourite songs on GH2, it's just so fun to play.
