or is this only pertaining to Gh3? hence the "unknown". If so, would you consider adding R.B. to the compatibility charts? Because this is in Misc Game Discussion or does that mean only guitar hero series? sorry to ramble but it's what i do best. |
I'm not quite sure what you mean... for the PC version, only the Xplorer has been explicitly confirmed. Then there's an "all other console guitars" with an Unknown attached to it, so that would include the PS2 guitars.
As for Rock Band compatibility - it's in there! On all of the platforms (except PC, since there's been no mention of RB for PC) it has a column for "RB" at the end. Isn't that what you were asking about? _________________

I'll definitely keep it updated. Might be a good idea, maybe you could PM a mod and ask them. Would save me having to keep bumping it because people keep asking the same questions over and over. _________________

Some new "info" today (not really much):
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2007/10/09/your-rock-band-questions-answered-guitar-hero-compatibility-bundles-etc
Basically GH3 controllers will work with Rock Band, if they "conform to the various platform controller standards", whatever those are. I guess if the GH3 guitar chose a different button mapping than the Rock Band one, we'll be screwed, assuming that's how the guitar controllers work. Maybe there's some specific standard that'll make sure they work the same, I really have no idea what controller standards are like. _________________

Yeah, we've known that for a while now.Alex from Harmonix has said that as long as the GH3 controllers conform to the normal standards, they should be able to work with Rock Band. Whether they do or not is entirely up to Activision/RO/NSFT, who have made no comment, so we'll have to wait and see when the games are released. Until then, it remains as 'Unknown'. _________________

Ok, I just need some clarification:
So will the PS3's Les Paul be able to play GH1, GH2, and GH80's ON PS3, just with HOPO/whammy/SP issues?
Because if I'm reading the chart correctly, it says the Les Paul, on the PS3, has no compatibility with the previous games, yet your subsequent posts state otherwise.
Thanks! _________________

The chart's correct, using the Les Paul on the PS3, you will not be able to play GH1/2/80s at all Directly sourced from rodth of RedOctane in theFAQ on the official forums:
Quote: | The new PS3 Les Paul wireless controller will NOT work at all with any of the Playstation2 Guitar Hero titles when played on the PS3. We suggest that you keep your PS2 console around to play the older PS2 Guitar Hero games. Using a PS2-to-PS3 USB adapter, GH1 will work on the PS3 using either the SG or the original PS2 wireless guitar [and GH2/80s will have 'partial functionality']. |
If there was any inconsistency in earlier replied to the topic, it was because it was originally believed that you'd be able to play them with at least partial compatibility, but since then rodth confirmed that it won't work at all. Sucks, I know _________________

Well, that's shit... but thanks for clearing it up! I was going to sell my SG, but now I might hold onto it and get a shitty adapter so I can at least play the games, I think my competitive days of GH2 are just about finished, and they certainly will be once GH3 comes out, so it won't be that big a deal. _________________

Here's a short list of combinations we still need to find out. Once GH3 and RB are released, I'll need people to let me know about certain combinations if you happen to have both games on one system. Still unknown combinations are:
- Whether PS2 Kramer will work with Rock Band on the PS2
- Whether the PS2 Fender will work with GH1/2/80s/3 on the PS2
- Whether the PS3 Les Paul will work with Rock Band on the PS3
- Whether the PS3 Fender will work with GH1/2/80s/3 on the PS3
- Whether the PS2 Kramer will work on GH1/2/80s/3/RB for the PS3 (with adapter)
- Whether the PS2 Fender will work on GH1/2/80s/3/RB for the PS3 (with adapter)
- Whether the 360 Les Paul will work with Rock Band on the 360
- Whether the 360 Fender will work with GH2/3 on the 360
- Whether the Les Pauls will work on GH3 PC version
If anyone is able to test any of these combinations, that'll be great. Remember, if you test the compatibility be sure to test out HOPOs, tilt activation for SP, and whammying - if anything doesn't work it'll only be marked as 'Partial Compatibility'. _________________

ahh, I've been wondering where this topic went. I'm getting the Les Paul and the RB guitar anyways though, so I guess I'm set either way. |
