Only Rumours...
"4 Guitar Hero sequels out in 2008 (Guitar Hero 4, Guitar Hero Aerosmith, and 2 others)"
Source: Electronic Gaming Monthly Magazine (www.1up.com)
I think 4 Games are a lot, so I think one Spin off or DLC Song Pack with maybe 6 or 8 Songs is possible.

Guitar hero Aerosmith?
I think that will probably be a DLC pack. And I hope it is, playing 30 Aerosmith song's isn't really my cup of tea. _________________

GUitar Hero Aerosmith isn't happening. There confused. Aerosmith is working with them on GH4. They're not making an Aerosmith version. _________________

I hope to God it's not Aerosmith. His songs are great, they just don't fit Guitar Hero. _________________

Depending on price, the Aerosmith one may be cool. Maybe it will be like a game you can download from XBL/PSN? Are there really enough awesome Aerosmith songs to fill 6-8 tiers? I'm not that familiar with their non-hit stuff.
I could dig a metal edition though, as long as they tone down on hair metal, nu metal (none, plz), and metalcore.
No doubt a metal version would be very controversial with people saying "[band] ISNT METAL U KNEWBS" and other shit like that.
Although, in theory, they don't even need GH4, with DLC and all that.
directshot999: Have you ever even listened to Aerosmith? They're very well known for their guitar work. wtf, man? |

Since they already got the name Guitar Villian out I'm guessing it will be one of the other games. It will probably have the same game engine as guitar hero 3/4 but with a more devilish look. Like GH80's did with GH2 but with an 80's look. If they do try to do the same thing, even though it's a different company, there probably won't be any bonus songs, also like 80's. _________________

I forget where I saw it but I remember seeing there might be a GH Country edition so that might be on of the 2 other games. _________________

ha, they had a hard enough time cranking out one game that wasn't full of bugs. I'd love to see them manage 4 games.... |

This strategy kind of makes sense to me. When you look at the enormous installed base of PS2 GH guitars and the fact that the Wii edition of GHIII was neck and neck with the 360 version for the best selling next-gen version, this may make a lot more sense than focusing efforts on DLC.
Look at how well GH Rocks the 80's sold last year. All they had to do was license 30 new songs, do a very minimal aesthetic makeover and put it on shelves at full price and it sold like hotcakes. I'd expect at least two of these games to be expansion packs (maybe Rocks the 70's and Rocks the 90's or Metal/Classic Rock editions).
I wonder if the third couldn't be the long overdue Drum Hero with Guitar Hero IV coming out in November for Christmas season.
My prediction:
Guitar Hero Rocks the 90's (expansion pack)
Guitar Hero Rocks the 70's (expansion pack)
Drum Hero (brand new franchise with a proper launch and new game engine)
Guitar Hero IV (new characters, songs, venues, modes and maybe an effects pedal or alternate neck with another button) |
