I don't think this has been posted yet but I could be wrong.

The people who made Smarty Pants for the Wii are now doing Band Mashups, a battle-of-the-bands style rhythm game where you pit rock against mariachi against heavy metal against funk/hip-hop against country western. The catch is that you'll all be playing the same songs. So are you ready to squeeze out Cypress Hill's 'Insane in the Brain' mariachi style? Or Blitzkrieg Bop as a country song? Well, you'd better be!

Personally I think this game has a good deal of novelty factor but will be lacking a bit in staying power. There's only 30 songs projected in the setlist, and although they're each covered 5 different ways (sort of like having 150 songs), I'm not really convinced I'd want to listen to Soundgarden's 'Spoonman' mariachi-style more than a few times if I can avoid it.

My other issue with the game is that it involves waving your Wiimote to the rhythm which is a bit gimmicky and...meh. But I like the concept that the better you stay on rhythm, the louder your version of the song blasts over the opposing band.

Metal versions of Feel Good Inc. and Jungle Boogie?

Hip-hop Master Exploder and Blitzkreig Bop?

Holy shit. This is going to be the greatest game ever.

In the other post in Misc. it says 'Man of Constant Sorrow' is in. Awesome.

Other than the novelty of hearing some songs in different styles I'd say this isn't 'rush out and buy a Wii' material for me.

If it gets good rating and such I'll probably rent it just to be safe. Saving money for Guitar hero 4 (Or w/e the next instalment is) and Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Now, the storyline involves taking over a city, and pwning your boss.

How the hell does playing music do that? 'Least going to hell in Gee-tar hero makes sense.

Wow that seems really interesting. Might have to get it. But do they mean that they will be doing metal versions of the hip hop songs and vice versa?
