Just bought a 360 a couple hours ago, first time I hit a starpower phase it activated immediately. I figured no problem just a touchy tilt thing. I lowered the guitar and got a few more SPs and when I hit select nothing happened. I haven't been able to succesfully activate with the select button yet, which leads me to think it's broken, also I think my tilt sensor is upside down or something cause it's all over the map.

Anyone have any suggestions for the tilt sensor or any way to test the select button out some other way to see if the button itself works?

Update

Seems the only way to use starpower when it doesn't use itself is to tilt the guitar way down then bring it back up. Select still doesn't work.

Also there seems to be a pattern. The first starpower of the song ALWAYS goes right away no matter where the guitar is tilted. All the rest have to be tilted all over the place to work although the odd one will just go immediately.

Update the second. Starpower works like normal only when the guitar is tilted down really far. From that position I can use the select button or tilt it up to activate. If I hold it at a normal level it always uses the first SP of the song right away then doesn't really use anymore, maybe one or two but pretty rarely. I'm starting to think it's all the tilt sensor.

The reason that its not working is because your tilt sensor is over sensitive. When you tilt activate, it goes into an "ON" position. In order to use SP again, either with tilt or select, you must put it back in the "OFF" position to reset the switch. The only way you can get the tilt back to "OFF" is point it at the floor, so it's not actually a problem with the select button, it's a problem with the tilt sensor. Adjusting the tilt sensor is an extremely delicate mod, so if you're inexperienced with electronics and presicion soldering, I would not recomend attempting it. If you can, return your guitar to the store. If you bought it online, return it to Wal-Mart.

Another option is if you are exclusively a select activator, you could disable the tilt all together. This is a much easier mod than adjusting it, but keep in mind that you will not be able to use the tilt in any circumstance.

Both the adjustment mod and the disable mod are in this thread:

well i would just like to add if you are going to disable the tilt sensor you could easily get a mercury switch and just wire it to the select button and you could adjust the sensativity easily. there realy isnt a tutorial on this but there is one that shows the switch ill see if i can find it.

Edit: heres the link. you dont need to folow the guide it is to just show you wat the switch looks like
