I see no reason to put it in the top score, nor do I really see one in browse (but it's possibly), but I do agree on Compare users. | Well I look at the top scores page to see if there are scores that can be improved upon, and it would be nice to also have a path at the fingertips. I'm just saying if it's fairly easy and not taxing to the system, why not? _________________

I'm working on adding some GHM vocal paths now. Thanks for all your hard work JC! All of this looks great.
One minor complaint (this may have been brought up before but I didn't read the entire thread). When I navigate all the way to, say, "The Black River X Vocals," I add a path, and then I want to go backwards, but there's no way to do this. I want to edit more Expert paths, but I can't find a way to navigate backwards effectively without leaving multiple tabs open (the Back button in my browser is out of the question obviously since I just edited a page).
Is there a way you could add some sort of breadcrumbs onto the song pages so I can go backwards a lot faster? I'd be able to rapid-fire these paths if I could do that.
Thanks a ton for your work on this!
Edit: For typos and fail. _________________

That is indeed the case if you take a look at Page History (link at the bottom beside Edit), you can see the old path. Hopefully there aren't many cases like this and over time I hope they'll be filled in with paths as discovered. But essentially any edit is considered a "path". So the first edit made needs to include a path, and future edits can't remove the path (although they can certainly revise it) in order for the info links and contribution counts to be accurate.
singemfrc wrote: | Also, why were the links only added to manage and not top/browse/compare scores? I would find it useful to access paths from these pages. |
I originally thought they'd only really be helpful in Manage Scores when working to improve scores. But if there's interest to add them elsewhere, it wouldn't be difficult to do.
Edit after reading Hailz' post:

That's a very good point. I'll see what I can do to help out in that regard. _________________

Yeah, just did all GH1X and GH2X(for PS2)...don't know how much more I can do before I pass out
..also JC, for GH2...some charts are significantly different when comparing 360 and PS2....this could get confusing in the future when all the charts are added besides just the upper bound paths...any way this could be split up down to the console level, maybe just for GH2 (since this game in particular is significantly different) _________________

This is pretty awesome, usually opening up the new tab for SP paths and such is a hassle for me and I end up going without paths. Now it'll be much easier. Good work, guys. |

Just finished adding in Expert paths for 80s and an alternate path for BiM, based off a path given in the SP forums for the song, page 3, by NilsBLand.
I might add in the Easy and Medium SP paths when I get back from my trip. But most likely I'm going to be playing Smash Hits for awhile . _________________

The problem with these red and green icons next to song names is that, in most cases, even if there is a green icon, the page it connects to exists, but it is usually totally blank. _________________

Well, the first editing of it should be the first path you make. I don't know if it's accidental or intentional (and no offense if I'm wrongly labelling someone), but some people might forget to make a path/use the back button instead of store when they go to the pathing areas.
On what songs does it look like this? Try to name as many as possible, if you can, please. _________________

And as a side note, some of them use different formats, like this and this. _________________

The great thing about the wiki is that if you see a page that doesn't use the standardized notation, you can just go ahead and edit it. Don't have editing privileges? Go ahead and apply for them, it'll be easy for anyone to gain access who actually cares enough to improve the wiki.
What likely happened with those pages that are blank, the person probably hit back in their browser and accidentally cleared it or something. _________________

As noted at the bottom of HowToAddPaths, one of the valid reasons for having multiple paths on the same page is separate consoles/platforms when the paths differ. So for affected songs, you would change the label as: label="PS2 Optimal", or label="360+PS3+Wii Optimal", or whatever the case may be.
The overall progress counts aren't completely accurate in such cases, since "complete" might mean 2 (or more) paths on a page instead of 1. And a path might appear available when it's not (for a given platform). But these instances are pretty rare in the big picture and probably not worth splitting apart. Once GH2 paths start filling up, I'll try to give special attention to the songs with different charts and make sure all platforms are covered.

I've now added a feature that allows the staff to correct these as detected and have fixed the five links you reported.
As you guys find more, the preferred option is to edit-in/fix the path(s) yourselves as Carrot mentioned anyone can do. Otherwise we can clear contributions to make the info icons turn red again. We'll be on the lookout for these pages too, so hopefully the incorrect green icons will be gone soon enough!
Also I'm still working on a several things to better address navigation issues. Such as adding a "related links" box to the current song's other difficulty and instrument pages, as well as a link back to the current game's section of PathChanges. _________________

It's not at all helpful for you to enter paths for songs without vocals for instrument combinations including vocals and write "There is no path because there is no vocals."
There are thousands of songs that we DO have paths for that we just need some simple data entry on. That would be much more helpful to see you do rather than this.
I can see you've been helping out a lot otherwise, just saying. Keep doing what you're doing... don't waste your time writing "There is no path." _________________

Sorry, but I might as well of put them down since there is no vox part in those 6 songs. |
