Holy shit! New Portal album coming out in October! I'm so psyched, if it's anything like their previous album it's going to be phenomenal. Will definitely get it. Portal are amazing. _________________

So I've been on a real Death Metal binge lately, even though Thrash is my favorite sub-genre. I think I've got a good amount of Brutal Death, but would like some Tech Death in there (however, still feel free to recommend Brutal Death). So far I've got stuff from:
Cannibal Corpse
Suffocation
Decide
Nile
Atheist
Death
Cynic
Six Feet Under
Death
Autopsy
Morbid Angel
Obituary
Gojira (not sure exactly their genre, but its good)
And I'm sure some other things that I'm not seeing right now, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated! |

Not at my laptop right now so I can't go to in depth but I suggest a band Im in to right now called The Faceless, already mentioned them before. I would also suggest Akercocke but I have no idea weather you'll like the style or not. And definetly try out Belphegor. Amazing Blackened Death Metal, some really great guitar patterns. Very very satanic band though so It depends on how you like your bands.
Edit: They may not be as heavy as you like but try The Haunted, really great stuff. _________________

Have Belphegor (and have seen them live, which was awesome), just forgot to mention it, my bad. The Faceless is pretty good, but it doesn't quite click with me. Akercocke is really nice, thanks for that one!
Also, just found an awesome Death-thrash band, Morgoth. I really, really like these guys.

Ok, that was awesome.
Just went to Rolling Stone Records with my dad. Last time I went there I completed my 80s Slayer collection and picked up Aerosmith's Rocks as well. But this time I didn't know what I would end up with. Everything was cheap and in addition to the great selection there were bootlegged shit too, also cheap.
Ended up with this:
KISS - Lick It Up ($6)
MSG - The Michael Schenker Group ($9)
Voivod - War And Pain ($15)
Once I saw this Voivod thing I knew I had to get it. It's one of those mega-packs Metal Blade's been doing. It's got their debut, 3 tracks from their first show in '83, 3 Metal Massacre 5 session takes, and disc two is all of Morgoth Invasion, a live demo from '84. All of this for $15.
MSG is no stranger to my collection, but I wasn't expecting to be blown away this hard again. This shit is required listening. KISS is, well, KISS. This album brings my total KISS tracks to 293 and I'm not even close to completing them. Hell, they've got a new one out in a month. _________________

Never been a big fan of blackened death metal, and I think the only bands that really ever got it 100% right were Dissection and Necrophobic. Although I won't deny that the later Behemoth albums were pretty good I didn't really think they were amazing. Demigod was really good though. |
This was from a few pages back haha.
While I haven't heard much Necrophobic I have heard some of Dissection and overall I thought it was good but the oriental influences in Behemoth attract me more. Different strokes I guess. _________________

Oh dude you have to get Darkside and The Nocturnal Silence, two legendary blackened death metal albums. _________________

This album is pretty cool. Kinda similar to Septic Flesh. I forget who mentioned it but I have to thank you, this album is pretty great, I have high hopes for metal this year. Definitely check it out. _________________
