Supposedly at rank 71 you unlock Arthas Menethil as a playable character, and the guitar Frostmourne. Not sure if it's common knowledge or not, but it's pretty awesome.

Synester is at 65 and ya Arthas is at 71. I'm at 85 and its getting a bit painful to rank up haha. 50 stars per rank

I didn't keep track of the unlocks along the way (you'd think I'd learn to DO things like this!), but I can tell you the final Cheat (Performance Mode) unlocks at Rank 101, the final Gallery (GHWoR Venues) at Rank 103, the final Accessory (the Neversoft Eyeball) at Rank 108, and the final Countdown isn't in this game ;).
This still doesn't unlock EVERYTHING, though - certain items like the "Spirit" versions of characters and instruments can ONLY be acquired by Dominating that particular chapter of the Quest mode.
If memory serves, you rank up at the following speed:
Rank 1: START
Rank 2 - 21: 10*/Rank (At Rank 21, you'll have 200 Stars.)
Rank 22 - 41: 20*/Rank (At Rank 41, you'll have 600 Stars.)
Rank 42 - 61: 30*/Rank (At Rank 61, you'll have 1200 Stars.)
Rank 62 - 81: 40*/Rank (At Rank 81, you'll have 2000 Stars and the Achievement.)
Rank 82 - 101+: 50*/Rank (At Rank 101, you'll have 3000 Stars.)
The requirement of 50* remains the same at least through Rank 251 (or so the Star Leaderboard reveals.) By that formula, the highest possible rank right now is CLOSE to 841 (40,000 Stars).
Fastest way to unlock stars is by using uplayed songs and doing either the Power Challenge (you can get up to 21 stars on a single play) or the standard Guitar Challenges (just about every song has three Guitar challenges - those combined with a full combo will earn you 16 stars in one attempt). |

EDIT: Never mind, played a bit and got Clive Winston and the Mirror Mode cheat, lol.
I love this unlock system, it's awesome and it rewards you for just playing the game. Kudos for Neversoft for making it fun to unlock stuff!
