Anyone else watching the draft this Friday Night? My last day of work is on Friday so no better way to kick off the Summer with a good ole hockey draft.
At least for the 1st time in a few years it should be very interesting with the top 10 going many different ways. I will be happy with one of Galchenyuk or Grigorenko (More so Galy), but would take Murray as well. Would be sweet if Yakupov dropped but that aint going to happen
I swear if the habs draft Forsberg or Dumba I will rage!!! _________________

Nail Yakupov goes first overall to Edmonton
Mike Ribeiro traded to Washington for Cody Eakin and 2nd rounder
Lubomir Visnovsky to Islanders for a 2nd round in '13
but then there's the big one..
Jordan Staal to Carolina for Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumoulin, and the 8th overall (Derrik Pouliout) _________________

Man I'm gonna miss Ribeiro, he was a bit of a diva sometimes, but what he brought to the team can't really be disputed.
Anyone know what the lowdown on this Eakin guy is? Is he any good? _________________

Eakin is a young guy, played on Canada's junior team a couple years ago, should be a half decent pickup.
As for free agency, I'm glad the Leafs have stayed somewhat quiet for now. Solid depth signings and such. And I love the trade they made, JVR has a tonne of potential |

The way both sides have been talking it out, it seems like they are going in the same direction and could bang out a CBA before the end of September, tho there is the chance everything could fall through. _________________

Didn't they just have a lockout? Do they still have the same problems as before? How were/are they not resolved? _________________

They had a lockout in 2005, and from what I've heard (I'm behind on hockey news ) there will most likely be a lockout starting tomorrow due to a 30-0 owners vote. One of the spearheads of the operation was Jeremy Jacobs who owns the Boston Bruins and from what I've heard, there will most likely not be any hockey until the time between Thanksgiving and The Winter Classic. Most likely, The Winter Classic will still happen, but don't expect anything soon. _________________

Days like this I hate being a one sport nation (I wont count Lacrosse and Curling since they arent nearly as popular here)
Personally i dont care who caves as long as there is hockey this year. I think enough people were pissed from the last one in 2004-2005 that now its just gotten to embarrassment. I almost hope that half the fans dont come back so someone can finally kick Bettman to the curb for allowing this to happen for like the 4th time, fucking asshole!! _________________

good luck with habs fan :P they buy tickets even if their teams suck so fucking much. been like this since 1994. they buy crappy beer at 10.75 each, overpriced ticket, overhyped team, overhype players, etc. this is mainly because of the stupid media in Montreal doing a lick-my-ass job.
but i bet you know the subject a bit. _________________

QFT
I can't say that i'm not happy it's back solely because I figure the Habs will suck again this year and get another top 5 pick. If the lotto happened we would have little to no chance at a top 5. Im not wishing for them to suck but the reality is they still suck and have no hope. Jesus the Leafs are better than us. |
