Heh, if we can figure something out I'd be up for pretty much anything in TX. Depending on when it'll be, I'll chip in any extra money I have. |

Depending on when this would be, I could (and totally would) come!
When I'm not in college I live in Austin.
Not in college = March 4-9 and between late May and mid-August.
Edit: A movie theatre or the Alamo would be EPIC! I've been to a Scorehero Meet in the UK and that was great, but we just got hotel rooms and played on tiny TV's all night long. I sure hope I can come to this one. T______T Would making it in the summer be feasible? I could come during my spring break, and if people want a weekend could I go out on a limb by suggesting March 8th?
I could come during that week too, but my car would be in Indiana (I'm flying home for break), so somebody would have to give me a ride because my parents will be at work (unless its a Friday.. my dad has Friday off). _________________

I'm totally down depending on the weekend/weekday....read: depending on the date. Would chip in, looking forward to it, etc.
My only thought of negativity is that a movie screen is just one screen....I don't know what you are proposing exactly, but it sounded like renting a theater room. All I'm saying is that there won't be much GH to go around for people who want to be playing. Just a thought. _________________

I think that if we did it in the summer we could get more people to go. _________________

So did I miss something; has this already happened or what?
Can we try to set an exact date for this? _________________

An exact date would require some details. Lucky I got some today.
Rental periods are around 3 hours long: 12-3, 3-6, and so on until midnight. All Drafthouses are available, and all rates are the same from theater to theater.
Fri-Sun is
$1410 for a rental period, plus
$1394 for catering costs.
Mon-Thurs is
$1200, plus
$820 for catering.
That means
$2800 on the weekend, and
$2020 during the week.
Pretty hefty, I would be the first to say. However, after some quick cramming , it doesn't look that bad as you would think, considering the number of people who have expressed interest in coming.
Consider on the weekend, 20 people show up.
$2800/20
$140 for 20 people
$70 for 40 people
$35 for 60 people
Now during the week
$2020/20
$101 for 20 people
$50.50 for 40 people
$25.25 for 60 people
Also, costs could be a little different per person, as the events director told me that the catering charge can be per person as long as it is met. Guitar Hero/Rock Band is fine to hook up and play on the big screen, and she said outlets would be made available for individual sets (cuz seriously, 40 people staring at 2 to 4 people playing gets boring), though she couldn't say specifically the number of TV sets they could accommodate.
So all in all, not too costly, but it still costs. Sadly, renting for six hours is double the price. Then again, that almost sounds better, $50 for 6 hours of GH on a movie screen... It's up to the people who are willing to show and pay. Maybe we should copy and paste this in the get-together forum on the Rock Band side?
I think Hailz's hotel room suggestion is good (it's sure as hell cheaper), but then again there's the draw of GH/RB on a movie screen (think of the photos/videos!). Summer is a great suggestion, because some (including myself) would want to save some $ for this event.
What say you guys? _________________

You misunderstand, Hailz doesn't have a hotel, she just used a couple for the UK get-together, and there are four alamo drafthouse movie taverns in austin (google it). _________________

Yeah, I'm gonna say that summer would be the best time to do it, cause that's the only way I'd be able to save up enough to go. Plus, if it's over the summer, we could do it on a weekday, which is cheaper. Plus, if we're done early enough (around 6, like you said), a lot of people, including myself, could just make a day trip rather than looking for a place to stay in Austin. The hotel idea is good too.
So, basically, I'm down for either one, so long as it's during summer, which is kind of a while away, but would be worth the wait for me. _________________

Definitely still in, do you think it would be a good idea to sorta make a list in the OP of whos definitely/maybe going, just so ppl can get an idea of the how much its going to cost?
Make it like:
People attending:
BLAH
BLAH
BLAH
......
......
BLAH
People that might be attending:
BLAH
BLAH
BLAH
......
......
BLAH
Estimated cost per person as of (date): $(not that much come to the fun)
