It's all part of the Circle of Internet Phenomenon:
1) Person invents new and obscenely funny phrase/pic/etc.
2) Community beats it to death within 4 days

Besides, all internet phenomena/memes eventually get old from constant use. That's just how they work; it's just some last longer than others.
