im looking into buying two ps2 sg's and making a double neck using the strats logic board, any advice would be helpful.
ive never molded two peices of plastic into one before so theirs where i need the help, i heard bondo works, or JB weld maybe.
and also whats the pinout for the fretboards on the SG and the Strat? |

this is a project he is going to be working on, so he obviously wants to make one himself. he has every right to his own thread for his project.

If you do this, make a thread for your progress like Slagr did for his double neck. I always love following those. |

well im contemplating either a double lp or a double SG (depending on wich one has a closer fret board pinout to the strat)
a couple ideas i had floating about my head last night.
1. keep affects switch
2. make an affects pedal
4. four fretboards (two sg/lp's and two strats for tapping)
5. have top left frets for tapping, top right for strumming, bottom left for strumming bottom right for tapping.
alright, after research it looks like im using the lp board
but a question.
im gonna try to have four fretboards, but the thing that keeps bothering me is how am i going to wire two frets together and two solos together, since i doubt just connecting them together will work. |

alright nvm on the four frets idea. instead im thinking ill just make it so the top neck has regular buttons, and the bottom neck has solo buttons
to many thoughts in my head right now |

for your question about the four you can just wire the 2 tapping boards together and the 2 normal ones together wich is wat i think you were trying to say _________________

so what your saying is.....
i can directly connect the two green leads to themselves and both would still register?
something like this? (if you can understand my pic)(ignore the numbers for the LP board, that was another idea)
the yellow and red places ive marked look like a set of contacts for the up, and down leads and grounds, if this is correct i could just use these for my second strum bar, right?
sorry bout big pics |

yea you have the idea but for the strum switches i wouldnt wire them inline like that just because i think that would cause double strums but you could try it and see wat happens if you want _________________

i could just go ahead and splice them into the wires, but those contacts just look so inviting, like they were put their for a reason.
well onto the fretboards.
i cut both the fretboards out of my strat and a prototype of the two main frets
a closer pic
well all of my work is done until i can get two LPs or two Sg's(depending on the fretboards)
the red spots on the frets are the little upraised parts at the begining and each end of the fretboards, im thinking about removing these before setting them into the neck of the other controllers(for a smoother finish) |

The project looks cool so far. That's an intense wiring schematic! Just a question: What is the purpose of the doubleneck? If it's just for awesomeness, that is enough, but if the second neck has an actual unique function, it adds to the awesomeness factor. Some previous projects second neck have included:
A) Neck 2 is Player 2, so you can face off w/ yourself ala Mr Peetza.
B) Neck 2 is a lefty flip neck, so if someone uses lefty flip in battle, you just switch necks and keep playing normally.
C) Neck 2 is for a different console or different game (one works GH one works RB) like Slagrs crazy piece of work.
Your schematic only includes one logic board, so the only plan for the second neck I can see would be a lefty flip neck, or just having two necks for awesomeness's sake. |

awesomeness pure awesomness
i always wanted an SG for my xbox, and i figured hell, why not make it a doubleneck?
now back to asking questions.
i bought some led's, most of them are 1.4V, i wire them inline with the buttons and they light up when i press the button.
but heres the kicker they dont light up very well. is their any way to get more current going to them withought frying the logic board?(i was thinking some resistors and a watch battery.)
edit: i thought about making it multisystem but i dont own a ps2 so it would be rather pointless, i could do a lefty though, even though i dont know anybody left handed, all i would have to do is wire the second neck backwards and move whammy bar above the strummer.

i'd make the wiring for them entirely seperate, because who needs lights playing alone? gut some old toy for the battery pack and graft it into the body, throw a switch in there, done. _________________

i was really wanting them to light up with the button presses though(green light for green button so on so forth) but if i cant figure that out i probably will put 12 leds in the neck(six in each headstock) then a bunch inside of the body somewhere.
maybe ill throw in an xplorers logic board so then it can be played on either rock band or guitar hero. |
