I really don't.. But I haven't played this game myself yet (I'd like to).

.. But I remember hearing a while back that the controller was meant to make for a pretty realistic experience (I have no idea if it in fact does).. Much more so than anybody said about the GH controller being like a real guitar..

So.. Uh.. Is this game at all like the act of really DJing -_'? I know there are a lot of methods one could use to "DJ" (such a loose term).. And I even heard that the controller for this game could be used as an actual instrument/midi controller somehow.. Is that so? (I have a hard time believing it, but I haven't heard anybody say otherwise)

sure, if you're talking about the motions, kinda.
but the way you move the crossfader and its positions, it'd be more realistic if there were two turntables instead of one. I think this game gets a very very very basic concept of DJing. pretty much like the guitar hero and real guitar, as you mentioned

This game will not prepare you for beat matching which is arguably the most basic skill of mixing. As Rodrigo said, if there were 2 turntables, it would be more realistic, but still far from the actual thing. What you might gain is some coordination between the turntable and the actual mixer. However, there's a lot more nobs and switches (terminology ftw) to get used to on a mixing board.

In my opinion, the closest video game experience to the insane multitasking of DJing is 14key IIDX. Sure, they aren't knobs, but your hands are doing completely different things.

In terms of crossfader and record manipulation, Crackin' DJ looks pretty realistic to me (I am a real DJ).

Wow, that IS really cool. I wonder which arcades have those, I have searched in vain for one with IIDX.

I wish they would have just done two turn tables and had the platters buttonless... would have made scratching better <_< Having to hold down a button while doing the crazy up up down down w/e is what makes it really tough -_-

that crackin dj looks amazing O_O I doubt I'll ever run into it, but if I do... I'll be prepared with a fist full of quarters ^_~
