|
|
I'm somewhat of an obsessive-compulsive perfectionist, and nothing drives me crazy like star power paths that are illustrated poorly. If you have Microsoft Paint on your PC (start -> run -> mspaint), then you can draw up a chart that looks as good as any other, provided you know what you're doing.
This guide is not meant to explain how to create Star Power paths- just how to illustrate them.
First of all, here are a few examples:
A lazily drawn path by NIN
An old path I drew with very thin activation outlines and without outlining phrases
My current method
A path done by Raunch that uses shading instead of simple outlines (requires something better than MS Paint)
It has become somewhat of a standard to outline phrases in green, activations in blue, and phrases with reduced or no whammy in red.
Let's walk through illustrating I Love Rock & Roll - Hard.
1) Copy (or save) the chart.
2) Paste (or open) it in MS Paint.
3) Select the "line" tool from the Tool Box, then select the third of the five thicknesses:
4) Select the "rectangle" tool from the Tool Box:
5) Press ctrl + T to close the Tool Box (this makes more room in the editing area).
6) Choose the appropriate color from the Color Box:
7) Outline phrases and activations in appropriate colors.
8) Save the file (I usually save them to the desktop).
9) Go to http://imageshack.us
10) Press "browse," find the file, then press "host it!"
11) Copy the last url given- the "direct link to image."
12) Use the following code to post the link to your chart in a post:
Code: | I Love Rock & Roll Hard SP |
Result: I Love Rock & Roll Hard SP |

I'm kind of surprised that there are people who don't know how to utilize the rectangle tool. _________________

*raises hand* I don't =D lol, I usually just put the number of the SP Phrase and mark when to use it, I don't even mark where it ends or anything. But that's gonna stop now due to debr's path's. And I doubt I'll make any more of my own unless there's no path for a song on GH3 Hard, in which case, I'll make one to beat you Sully >.> |

this is awesome stuff.
so awesome I linked it to my creating starpaths thread. very good stuff in there too.
also I believe the last chart was made using adobe photoshop, which is what i use to make charts.
steps are very similar. And I'll go over them here in a minute.
ok
1) open the page the chart is on and save the chart to your computer.
2) open adobe photoshop, then open the chart
you will notice it is way too small to read so make the box it's in bigger by dragging the corner and then use the zoom tool to get a better look (you may have to zoom more than once)
http://fwrestling.com/host/rnlhutch/adobe/selectall.jpg
now using the rectanlge tool.
and click somewhere in the document. then use the buttons (ctrl)+A to select all.
now right click in the middle and choose layer via cut.
http://fwrestling.com/host/rnlhutch/adobe/layerviacut.jpg
now go to the layer box and move the new layer to the top, and select it.
then minimize the layer box like so.
on now use the rectangle tool to make a box around the first set of stars and using the color palete and paintbucket tool color the box green.
http://fwrestling.com/host/rnlhutch/adobe/highlightstars.jpg
now after you've highlighted all the stars you can highlight the activations.
using the rectangle tool to make the box and then using the paintbucket tool and blue to fill the box.

Holy thread necro Batman!
What do you mean by note schemes? Blank charts? (That's my guess anyway) You can find them posted in the star power threads, but you don't need them now because of debr's charts... unless you mean the new DLC, i'm not sure how to get those, unless you can get them from your 360 hard drive to GHex somehow. _________________
I play every GH/RB game on 360 now, but my PS2 scores are still up, just outdated. Just FYI.
Why aren't religious people considered conspiracy theorists? They believe there's a "behind the scenes" operation going on.

| For those of you who don't know, TMA has posted DLC charts made with Debr's program (Debr's stopped updating after Dropkick Murphys).

I think this deserves a stickey! Nice job, Sully, I think that amateurs will really benefit from this. _________________
