Well, you can still play the solos in RB with the top 5 fret buttons, so I'd assume it'd work that way with the other guitars.
I guess knowing it in advance doesn't matter that much, considering that we really won't know until the game comes out anyway, and we couldn't change it now.

Don't suppose anyone has had the opportunity to test a PS2 Kramer on the PS3 yet with an adapter? To see whether it'll work for the PS3 version of GH3, and/or whether it'll work for the PS2 versions of GH1/2/80s/3 too.
It's an unlikely combination, I know, but it'd be nice to get rid of some of those purple Uknowns from the PS3 chart. If anyone happens to have a Kramer and has a friend with a PS3, or vice versa... _________________

With so many different games, guitars and consoles, it ends up very complicated - that's why I made the chart If there's anything in particular you don't understand, I'd be happy to explain. _________________

So in order to play Rock Band and multiplayer on GH2/3, you will need 3 guitars. (one x-plorer, one LP, and one strat)? _________________

If you want to get the most out of Rock Band, yes.
By the way, to those who have asked about battery packs... you can now order battery packs for the 360, PS2 and PS3 from the RedOctane store. See this topic:

This article from the XBOX website on Oct. 26th:
http://au.xbox360.ign.com/articles/830/830759p1.html
Confirms the 360 Fender does not work with GH3:
Quote: | The Rock Band guitar is another story. This controller, which features a number of extra fret board buttons and an effects switch, does not work with Guitar Hero 2 or 3. |

Exactly what can a LP or X-plorer not do in Rock Band that a Strat can?
Is the game still just as playable ie. does it affect your scores? _________________

There are specific 'solo' sections of songs in RB where you use the 'solo frets' and you don't have to strum for them. At best, on the Xp/LP you'll still be able to do these sections, but you might still have to strum. At worst (and probably more likely, in my opinion) you won't actually be able to hit these solo sections at all. We won't know for sure until RB is out and people can try it themselves. _________________
