Guitar Hero 3 PC Switcher Tutorial
Written by: Stingers

---------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT: I am not responsible for any save or data lost. Please follow the instructions carefully!
This tutorial will show you how to configure your GH3 PC to work with the GH3 Songlist Switcher.
The Switcher can be downloaded here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7RSLY20C
If you were using an older version of the Switcher, it might be a little difficult to set up the first time.
First, rename the "bak" folder "Switcher". Then you'll have to add your tracklists. Name them the same way as the folder that are already created (GH1, GH2, etc...). It should be alright like that.
The Manage File option won't really work with you, because it was made for someone using it for the first time, so you'll have to make some things manually, like copying appropriate SONGS and MUSIC folder for each tracklist. Please include in each the original GH3 files + the version related one.
When you'll try to click on the Manage File option, it'll tell you that no backup has been created. Do not click on yes. Before that, launch the original GH3, close it, click the ok button. Then, in DATA\SONGS and DATA\MUSIC, just put the originals files, no other one., Then go to manage file and create your backup.
Optional step:
If you want to import songs from your GH1, GH2 or GH80 CD, you’ll have to follow that tutorial : http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5326. Once you have all your .bin file (see the tutorial), delete all the ***1, ***3, ***4, and ***5 one. Only keep the ***0 and ***2. Then, convert them to .wav (like said in the tutorial).
Configuring the Swticher:
The first step to do once you got the Switcher started is to create a Backup of your current GH3 files. In the menu, choose the Tracklist sub-menu and click on Manage Files. A pop-up window should now ask you to locate your GH3.exe and s000.d file. After it's done, click on Done.
Another pop-up window should appear, asking you if you're using the GH3 PC Editing Tool. For the purpose of this tutorial, I'll supose you click on yes. After it's done, locate your Identifiers file, located in the GH3 PC Editing Tool main folder. Click on done.
A new pop-up window should now ask you to create a backup of your GH3 files. Click on yes. A black windows executing some script should now appear. Wait until it's clearly written DONE on it and press enter to close it. Back in the switcher, click on Ok, and you're done. Close the new window.
Adding GH3 tracklist:
Back on the main window, go back in the Tracklisy Sub-Menu, but this time select New Tracklist. First, you'll want to create your GH3 tracklist. Name it like you want (GH3 or Guitar Hero 3 should do the job). Locate the image you want to be associated with it (need to be in BMP format). The optimal size for images is 150*150. Please note that the bottom left pixel's colour of the image will be invisible on the button. Change it with paint if you want to keep that colour. Finally, click on Add.
In the manage files window, select the GH3 tracklist from the dropdown list. Choose the Copy Current GH Files to this version's folder option and click on Ok. Once again a command prompt window should do all the job. Click on enter when it's done and click on Ok in the switcher.
Adding a new tracklist:
Go back to the New Tracklist option. Choose any name for your new tracklist and associate an image to it. Click on add. Back on the main window, go in the Tracklist sub-folder and click on Manage Files. Let it open, but don't click on anything.
It's time to start the GH3 PC Editing Tool. I’ll not explain how to add songs in a songlist, because Lowang already made an awesome tutorial on that: http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46187.
After all your song are imported and your tracklist is created, save in the GH3 PC Editing Tool and go back in the Switcher. In the manage files window, select the tracklist you want to associate with the files you just imported from the dropdown list. Choose the Copy Current GH Files to this version's folder option and click on Ok. Once again a command prompt window should do all the job. Click on enter when it's done and click on Ok in the switcher.
Now choose the Put back GH3 original files in GH general folder and click on Ok. A command prompt window.... Ok, you're getting used to it
Do these steps for each tracklist you want to create! Once it's done, you can continue the tutorial.
Before launching the game
Once you imported and copied all your tracklist's files, in the manage files window, select the Copy all version's files in GH General Folder option and click Ok. A command prompt window should now start. When the job is finished, press enter and click on Ok in the Switcher. Anoter command prompt souhld start (you'll have as many command prompt as number of tracklist you have. Do the same actions for all of them. Once it's all the, close the Manage files windows.
Launching the game
Back in the main Window, choose the tracklist you want to play from any of the dropdown list and click on the associated button.
The game should now launch. DO NOT CLICK ON THE OK BUTTON!!! When the game is started, if you chose a tracklist that is not GH3, the game should complain about your save, saying that’s it’s corrupted. Choose the delete option. A new save file will be created, a working one When you're done playing, close the game and click on the Ok button in the Switcher.
And that's it, the switcher is now running perfectly! The next part of the tutorial is about advanced options. If you don't want to use them, you're done with this tutorial!
Modifying a tracklist files
First, open the Switcher, go to the Tracklist menu and choose manage files. Select the tracklist you want to modify in the dropdown list, then select the Copy This Verison's Files to GH Folder and click Ok.
Launch the GH3 PC Editing Tool, then make the changes you want. I’ll not explain how to add songs in a songlist, because Lowang already made an awesome tutorial on that: http://www.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46187.
Once you're done, save the modification in GH3 PC Editing Tool and go back to the Switcher. In the manage files windows, select the version you just modified in the dropdown list, then select the Copy Current GH Files To This Version's Folder option and finally click on OK.
When you're done modifying all the tracklist you wanted to modify, don't forget to Copy All Version's Files In GH General Folder, using the appropriate option in the manage files window.
And youre done!
Modifying a tracklist information
Go to the Tracklist menu and open the Modify Tracklist window. Choose the version you want to edit from the list and change the infos you want. Finally, click on OK
Deleting a single tracklist
WARNING, THIS ACTION IS IRREVERSIBLE! YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR VERSION'S RELATED FILES AND DATA!
Go to the Tracklist menu and open the Modify Tracklist window. Choose the version you want to delete from the list and click on delete. Confim that you want to delete.
Deleting all tracklists
WARNING, THIS ACTION IS IRREVERSIBLE! YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR VERSIONS' RELATED FILES AND DATA!
Go to the Tracklist menu and choose manage files. Check the Put Back GH3 Original Files option and click Ok.
Back in the main window, launch the GH3 tracklist, then close the game and click Ok.
Go to the Tracklist menu and choose manage files. Check the Remove all GHSwitcher Related Files and Data option and click Ok. Confirm and close.
Change GH3 path or save path
Go to the GHSwitcher menu and click on Configuration. Locate your new files location
Change GH3 PC Editing Tool Path
Go to the Tracklist menu and choose manage files. Click the related button and browse to your new identifiers file location
And that’s about it. If you have any question or suggestion, fell free to ask them!
Have fun! _________________

*EDIT* My tutorial is NOT compatible with the 2.0 switcher yet.... It still works fine, just hasn't been rewritten to accomdate the changes in the 2.0 switcher...

One of the bug involved the Custom save to overwrite the GH1 one. Maybe that was your problem. _________________

Already done.
It's just that I don't change the version number for minor fixes like that, but I update the link. _________________

Just a question : Will it work if your save folder is not on C: ?
Don't ask why, but my "documents & settings" folder is on E: .
But I think I'll have to reinstall the game again, because I've already put some songs in the game... But will try to delete them first
EDIT : BTW, good job on this app, nice workaround to song limit in the game. To you and all who were involved in this idea _________________
