I'd recommend Graveyard.

They're a Swedish blues rock band that kicks more ass than any other band I can think of right now. Their sound is more like classic rock but their live performances are so badass.

Black Metal Box

I'm the first one to chart one of their songs in EOF: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sx03rqAdLuY
And that video is featured on their blog: http://www.blackmetalboxmusic.com/blog.aspx

bRONk: A Swedish instrumental trio. They're truly amazing.

Time In Malta: I don't know if they're well known or not but I first heard of them like a week ago.

Get Fuzzy: Also a Swedish band. They're only about 15-16 years old, and already has a couple of songs on iTunes if I'm not mistaken. Definitely check them out.

First off, before you post a band here, think to yourself, "Do they sell their shirts at hot topic?", if the answer is yes, then don't post them.

I personally found out of Adagio and Carnival in Coal doing a project for french class. off the top of my head I can think of Vayden, Stereo Skyline, Boys will be boys, and Asteria

Hehe, comparing Carnival in Coal and Stereo Skyline, I can't belive I lsiten to both of them .

Hank! On Ice!

Here's their whole album on YouTube.

Also, my own band, Sedated Seduction, is pretty well unknown. Though, to be fair, we have yet to actually record anything other than a 5 second clip of my friend shouting and me slamming on a bass guitar.

I'd love to contribute more, but I've fallen out of touch with what's popular these days.

Is Animals As Leaders considered non popular? If so, in my opinion they are one of the best instrumental bands of all time.

Check out this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ho4-tExpTE

song is tempting time, amazing song.

Riverside, Haken, and to a lesser extent Kamelot and Fates Warning (nobody here ever talks about any of these bands)

If so, then Electro Quarterstaff, Cloudkicker, Continuo Renacer, and Blotted Science worth noting.

Tubelord. Amazing band. They sound a bit like Fall of Troy if you ask me.

I love the song in the video. Going to download that album right now to see if the rest of their stuff is on par with the video

Blueprint. Relatively unknown, I mean, none of my friends have ever heard of them, and they listen to the majority of stuff I do. The album 'Phenomenology' is a great listen, the vocals on it really stand out.
*Cant find anything on youtube O_o, will send a song if anyone is really interested in hearing them*

Another is Earthtone9, quite a small band. Same vocalist as Blueprint, however this was from an earlier time. Another quite unique sound, and a great band to get into, only lessened by the lack of songs. (Only 2 ep's )

Ratatat - Rock N' roll and electronic mixed together to make awesome music. I suggest their album Classics.

I'm Not A Pilot-

"Milwaukee based indie rock band, “I’m Not A Pilot”, began in the winter of 2008 and just released their first EP, notable among local Milwaukee bands, for its lack of guitars. All songs are written and constructed around frontman Mark Glatzel's soaring vocals and intricate piano work. Peter Thomas, cellist in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, adds melodic and harmonic bursts of energy through his ‘guitar simulated’ electric cello playing. Matt Glatzel (bass) and Steve Vorass (drums) provide the driving rhythm that fuels the entire sound of the quartet."
