Your gonna need some help with that denial there, Bloody. I called in a forklift, which will really help ya to keep pushing, if you really want to stick it out lol

For me, this was it. I've never heard a more miserable collection of clips. I liked Death Magnetic, but this is them just trying to be "artsy" and "weird", but they aren't that kind of band. They aren't Trent Reznor or Devin Townshend, they aren't known for this or have shown any such skill in this department. They've always just been your regular metal and rock band.

If they would release the music, instrumental only, no vocals, the album might be salvageable, except for that one song that just sounded like string scratching. Or an all James Hetfield singing thing...maybe...just maybe...It wouldn't be the worst thing Metallica has ever done.

Nah I don't know, those riffs are pretty miserable and WAY too repetitive.

But yeah Lou Reed doesn't help their case either, case in point: PUPPY BLOOD!

For the vocals, I think Lou should've just written the lyrics for James on the heavier songs (Pumping Blood and especially Mistress Dread, the latter of which sounded the closest to thrash, but Reed failing to keep up with the pace of the song kills it.). However, I think Lou should still sing during the cleaner parts (Like all of what is revealed of Little Dog as it sounds kinda folk-ish and as much as I am going to get shat on for this, Lou's vocals kind of fits that.).

Another problem is that, from what I have heard of Lou Reed prior to this, he hasn't ever really dabbled in the metal sound before now. He was probably naive enough to think that you could just make anything SOOPERHEAVYANDBRUTAL and instantly create awesomeness. This and deathcore are proof of how wrong he was.

Album leaked. Got to 2:00 through Mistress Dread and just shut it off. I literally can't take any more.

You can listen to the album right there...I'm gonna give it a go and see if there's anything memorable in this at all. Wish me luck...

Brandenburg Gate - Just strange as shit lyrics, right off the bat. Extremely repetitive, Reed having moments of breaking out of his old man mumbling, but again just sounds so out of place.

The View - Already talked about this crapper with semi-passable Metallica riffs and Reed being out of place.

Pumping Blood - I'm not gonna point out bad Reed sounds in every song, cause I got a feeling it doesn't get any better. Musically this one, while of course repetitive, it's not too bad aside from annoying guitar screeching through most of it. Yes, we know you can't solo very well anymore Kirk, but you don't need to just go and make noise with your guitar. And I skipped through the last minute. The song just wouldn't end and Reed starts to grate on the brain.

Mistress Dread - Yes, lets make a speed metal song and have Reed awkwardly and slowly recite poetry, with purposefully warbly vocals. WHO THE FUCK THINKS THIS WAS SMART? Possibly one of the fastest thing Metallica has done in recent memory, but is just wasted. 7 minutes of fast metal wasted.

Iced Honey - I kinda like this song musically, a different sound to what they usually do, a melancholy feeling tune. And yeah, I'm starting to just skip through these songs. They are so repetitive, I just go ahead by little bursts and get this gist of the songs. Painful.

Cheat On Me - Again, another song that could've been okay if Metallica had just done it by themselves, aside from the ambient intro nonsense. This song is long as hell too. Seems Metallica forgot about editing their songs again, a problem with Death Magnetic, where songs went on much longer than they needed to. Long songs work when the songs have something to bring.

Frustration - This was a song I was dreading from the clips. A minute of bullshit noise that then moves into some good riffing. Only half terrible.

Little Dog - The only song Reed doesn't totally ruin, cause he almost fits into what is being played, which is just really light ambience and acoustic, and light drumming. He still doesn't sound good, but this is probably the only song Reed isn't the worst in.

Dragon - 3 minutes of guitar feedback and idle strumming, yeah that's music...Again, okay riffing.

Junior Dad - An alright melodic tune, so Reed again doesn't feel so out of place and doesn't really say alot. Oh and this song is 10 minutes of repetitive Metallica playing and then another 10 minutes of really slow ambient violin.

So yeah...While tolerable by what Metallica brings in a few songs, Reed ruins whatever enjoyment I could muster from this with nonsense lyrics and his old man ramblings. Just a fucking awful, artsy, pretentious, release by a band that really doesn't know how to do stuff like this and a guy that shouldn't be doing music like this, but something much softer and acoustic like what Johnny Cash was doing when he got much older, though at least Johnny Cash sounds like he is singing and puts some soul into the music.

Time to wash my brain of that "Memorable" nonsense, by listening to St. Anger, an album that is no longer the worst thing Metallica has made and I now have a better appreciation for, aside from still hating the hell out of Lars drumming in it XD

*EDIT*
Actually this reminds me of like Dave Mustaine getting together with Lee Ving and doing the side project (MD.45), but there they did it actually well, working with what they both know and actually sounding good together. Clearly Metallica and Reed had two different ideas of what they wanted to do and even though they don't fit together, they still went ahead with it anyways.

Watch Lou Reed die right before this is released, and then see everyone act like this album was good out of respect.

Wouldn't come from me. If that happened, I would feel bad for Reed going out on such a low point. Also read another interview about how "Energized and Jacked Up" he is listening to the album. I only wish he sounded like that on the album, rather than his tired, dull, old man, ramblings.

God, who's idea was it to let him sing through most of the songs? Couldn't he just help write them and let Metallica take care of the rest? I'm just going to pretend this is a Lou Reed album that has Metallica as a guest and not the other way around. This doesn't count, you hear me!?

Reading the interviews, it all seems like they are so happy without how it turns out. Maybe I ought to sit down and read all the lyrics in order and try to figure out the story it's telling, maybe it will make more sense, who knows. Still... wow

You got further than me...38 seconds for the win.
I don't even want to check out the previews for the rest of the album.

Megadeth won this by a light year. Not only because Lulu is bloody awful, but because Megadeth have produced a brilliant album (better than Endgame that's for sure >_>)
