I was surfing misc, and this little gem of an ad popped up. You can't click anything to make the ad disappear, and you can't click anything it covers up |

That's... quite odd. I can't say I've encountered an ad that spread to the page to that extent. The only ads I've gotten ever on this site were the banner ones at the top of the page. Still, that ad you got is excessively intrusive to say the least. _________________

I, myself am tired of it. Once I got on from the homepage today, it came up, and would not let me go onto the forums or the Rockband side. Refreshed the page and it continued to pop up, until the 6th time.
It also popped up when I first viewed this thread, and covered up the reply button >_> _________________

Yeah, I got this as well. Took a screenshot but it looks like I was beaten to the punch. What is so weird about this ad is that I couldn't find any little "x" on it (which I would have been okay with ignoring if I could just close it), but there is no way to close it other than clicking on a link.
As an ad designer, I have to wonder why in the world companies think web ads like this are a good idea. It annoys me to no end, and in fact inspires me to openly ignore their product/service/show/etc. I've never seen any ad like this on any other website before, so it's definitely weird/interesting. _________________

I don't know why these ads keep springing up every few months. I'm sending a report in now which should have it pulled in the next 24 hours.
In the meantime, from what I can tell it appears to only load once per session. So if it happens again I suggest a refresh will fix it. _________________

Maybe someone just sneaks them in even though you don't generally request those type of campaigns, hoping that no one feels like complaining? I know so far that there's only been one slightly obtrusive ad that you've ever approved, since finances for SH are tough. Still, I've kept SH off my adblocker for a very long time and I have no intent to put it on there anytime soon. Wish I had some money to donate but times are tough for me as well :/
For the record, I never saw this ad and I've been on SH a hell of a lot in the last few days. I do know that it certainly wouldn't make me want to watch MTV2 if I did see it, even as a fan of game shows :P _________________

What does it actually cost to keep ScoreHero up and running at the moment, if you don't mind me asking? I'm sure there are members of the community who'd be more than willing to chip in a few bucks on a regular basis to keep it afloat. |
