So I can't help but think how user unfriendly the SH Wiki is.
I'm trying to get a user page up, but NONE of the code works, even the link that Imacarrot linked to for an example of how to get your scores up on your Wiki page, just shows me a blank page that says "Guitar Hero II (360)" at the top, and nothing else.
Then when I try to view some pages, or see if theres any help for how to go about setting up a user wiki page, I am greeted occasionally by a "You aren't allowed to view this page" message.
What gives? Is the Wiki just broken right now or what?
No where can I find an actual list of coding for displaying scores, stats or anything. Anyone know of a topic where any of this is covered? _________________

Formatting Rules
Wiki Actions
These are the built in ones. They've been changed a bit from the standard commands because the geniuses that run this site made some serious alterations to the wiki-software.
You can also use raw HTML by putting double quotes ("") before and after your HTML codes.
As far as the built in score stat feature, It's working for me, just make sure that you have all of the required fields included (game, difficulty, etc...). And make sure that you've purchased the edit the wiki update with contribution points in the SH store. |

I'm working on getting up an all-encompassing Scorehero guide on the wiki; I hope to be done by the end of this weekend.
It won't be a full guide (I hope that members can fill out portions that are missing detail) but it should have a section on the wiki and how to get started. I'm sure I'll make a new post once that's done. |

Thanks for the links, they've helped a lot.
So you have to purchase the ability to make a edit wiki pages from the SH store? I don't understand...
Why? That by definition makes the SH wiki...not a wiki. _________________

You only have to do that for the song pages. You can freely edit any other page on the wiki, and are encouraged to do so.
The reason we lock the song pages a little is to make it harder to vandalize them. It's too easy to modify a star power path just a little and have no one notice. |

I suppose thats an okay approach to security. But isn't that also what edit logs and registration are for?
I mean, we don't all have contribution points since most of them get eaten up by people who prove cut-offs the minute the songs are released. Whatevs, I guess I'll just sit back and wait for the wiki to be a real wiki :-P _________________

There are still plenty of cutoffs to prove on the lower difficulties.
Anyway, the same people who love to push our buttons with fake scores would do the same thing with vandalizing the wiki. They don't care enough to take the time to do 5 proofs, or donate $5 to the site. This is the perfect way of only allowing people who love the site to be able to work on the wiki.
Also, allowing *everybody ever* to edit pages is *not* a requirement of the definition of wiki. _________________

No but for members of said wiki, it is a requirement that the knowledge base be open and free...
I just think its silly, but I'm obviously in the minority there. I've tried donating before, but for some reason it would never let me, kept getting errors and what not. _________________

5 points is not really an unreasonable amount to get for the responsibility to edit song pages TBH. |

And even if you can't get the five contribution points, you can still leave a comment on the page, and someone can make the edit for you. _________________

That is awesome I was like, why can't I edit the song pages!?! I just donated 14 more dollars to the cause. I should have like 20ish contribution points now right?
