Maybe at this point I just like more commercialized prog metal haha if that even makes sense... I haven't heard of most of those bands you've mentioned, although I already have heard a lot of (and loved) Blotted Science, is Spastic Ink similar? Because I'll probably love them too.

Not really. Spastic Ink does not have the heaviness that Blotted Science do. It's pretty much all clean guitar, insane drumming but not heavy insane and it has a very prog metal production. The technicality is equal to or greater than Blotted Science though so definitely check them out.

I bought 4 CD's already over here in university and this is only the first week I've been here and there's 5 different independent record stores so I'll be getting some good stuff.

I picked up:
Type O Negative - World Coming Down
The Clash - Combat Rock
Mahavishnu Orchestra - The Inner Mounting Flame (Anyone who enjoys prog metal and technical instrumentals in general will love this band. They are IN-FUCKING-SANE jazz-fusion)
Mr. Bungle - Mr. Bungle

I also wanted to get Bullhead by Melvins but I was like $5 short.

Spastic Ink are better I think, but pretty different from Blotted Science like tornintwo said. Spastic Ink are pretty much progressive rock, but definitely worth a listen, my favorite band.

I'll suggest Continuo Renacer, Leviathan (Colorado), and Seventh Wonder.

Way to recommend obscure bands ! I couldn't even find any soundclips of anything by CR or Leviathan. I do like what I've heard so far of 7W though, I'll have to look into more by them. The solo in the middle of the song "Unbreakable" is incredible!

I only suggested what I just happened to find since I didn't look too hard in the genre. Continuo Renacer is an instrumental band that fits in the Prog genre but has the tendency to hit pretty fucking hard at times.

Leviathan is an entirely different beast. Here's their site but the samples don't work. I own Deepest Secrets Beneath and it's interesting but still a great listen. Vocals are clean despite the misleading logo and album cover.

Man these people @ Ebay are trying to outbid me on my future newest addition. I can't tell you guys what CD it is yet, but let's just say that I might be back here tonight bragging about a 1984 classic, First Press =).

Good luck, Norm.

On a side note, I discovered this band called Ikuinen Kaamos yesterday. Absolutely amazing band! Definitely one of the best black metal bands I've ever heard. Very melodic and beautiful, I really recommend picking up their album The Forlorn.

Full CD or demo? Because I just happened to find a 1984 Death demo for like $10 bucks in a store, I bought it instantly.

Listening to the new Shadows fall, way better than Fallout and War Within.

New Dethklok is also amazing.

So today I picked up a few sorely needed items including computer speakers and headphones. I got Altec Lansing SoundBar speakers that sound amazing and Sennheiser headphones to replace the stock iPod headphones I got when I upgraded my iPod.

Now no shopping trip is complete without picking up some CD's, so I got:

Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Judas Priest - British Steel
Gorillaz - Gorillaz (You all can ignore this one)

The Black Sabbath CD almost completes my collection of the best Sabbath era (from Black Sabbath through to Sabotage) except I still don't have Vol. 4 yet. Now on the back cover of the CD the final two songs, The Writ and Am I Going Insane (Radio) are switched. It also appears like that pressed onto the CD but when I loaded it, the tracks appeared in the correct order. Weird eh?

COLLECTABLE!!

As for myself: I showed those Ebay people what's up, and won myself a CD that I've been wanting for a long, long time.

I must say, excellet Judas Priest and Black Sabbath choices. The Writ is one of Black Sabbath's best songs and British Steel has Judas Priest classics (not including Breakig the Law... I find that song annoying).

Also, good Gorillaz choice, but this isn't the place for that. :P

Sabbath albums are full of those kinds of misprints. It was easy for me since I bought The Black Box early on and now I'm slowly adding individual copies of the albums to my collection. But hold up. Sabbath's got these pretty kickass Deluxe Editions of some of their albums coming out with delicious packaging and chock full of extras. Motorhead and Whitesnake have similar editions out as well.

I'm off to Best Buy now. I forgot they have these mini LP imports of UFO's discog so I might be coming home with Lights Out tonight unless I find a great replacement to go along with Fly By Night.

Norm, misprints on albums usually mean it's just an unofficial issue. My copy of Sabotage has 'Sabbotage' printed on the disc itself and a lot of albums across all genres have missing or switched track typos. It's not as valuable as a typo on a trading card or something.

MrOmyA, what's wrong with Breaking The Law?
