Arighty, response time:

chaosfreak - Thanks man, just wish that I would've sounded clearer and less cold-ridden but it was still fun I might redo some of the easier cold-ridden tracks once I'm fully myself again.

Tidus - Yeah, it's just that I brought that up because I had completely forgotten what "Nearly Lost You" went like. But I thought I might as well get that out of the way now, and from then on it would be all familiar stuff. Thanks, mind you

werelord - I don't know, my piece of the vocal-rockin' pie is actually very small in comparison to that for dr00bles, Hailz and the like. But now that I think of it, the statement alone has encouraged me to do *something* different within the last FC (and I bet Tidus knows what it is already).

I didn't do the FGFC today though, but I managed to get 2 more out of the way and a tourney fully cleared. So I'll tell you what it is...

It's some kind of German Screaming Tree freakout, that's what I've nearly lost!

...Yep. That's the strangest portmonteau of lyrical themes I must've concocted. >_>

---

Update: January 7th 2010

Video Feature Double: A-Punk | Never Miss a Beat

The next chronologically done vid and another more recent yet cold-plagued FC. But what can I say - I had all the fun I can on the first one, and managed to nail a song with very little margin for error on the second. Whew.

GH5 Progress Report: No, werelord, I didn't finish it off today, but I DID come close:

True to my word, I DID decide to get a solo run on "Du Hast" after a successful online sightread on Tuesday. And I've no idea what was more hilarious though - the wimpy Star Power path, or my butchering of the German language.
"Nearly Lost You" was learnt surprisingly quick - the only phrase I really dreaded was the last one with so little margin for error there, but otherwise it was still good to do.

It's not just that that got the focus of the day - over at the main GH site, this week's GH:SH Rock Box tourney ran today, and I took part in its Expert Vocals division. The songs for all competitors on all 8 divisions (4 difficulties each for Guitar and Vocals) to do were "Beast and the Harlot", "Killer Queen", "Message in a Bottle" and (the ever so dreaded lol) "Psychobilly Freakout".

I managed to nail the optimal path for the former two (though B&TH took six tries to get it done right) and the 183k path for MIAB (finally!), but that was nothing in comparison to the EPIC NEW HIGH SCORE for the only song listed that had freeforms in it (and yay phone quality again):

As a result, I managed to win the Expert Vocals division!

...but it still didn't speak much since 1 - I had over twice as many points as the second place finisher (wut) and 2 - being British, I'm not eligible for the physical prize of the pen and sticker they were offering, but that doesn't matter. It's the thrill that counted more than anything.

Still, what an exciting day. Tomorrow, I shall return to GH5... and finish it off once and for all!

Woofus don't ever underestimate yourself. Of course you arn't as well known as dr00bles or Hailz, but you're still one hell of a vocalist, and definatly the best vocalist on the wii.

That's it, Wooffus!

You're so close that it ain't even funny! About the tourney win, that's more than expected. Ditto to Werelord though. You got this far in such a short time, I'd not overplay myself in such a situation.

P.S.: I sent a FR on YT, if you don't mind...

Edit: inb4update...

YAAAAY FGFC!!!!! ^_^

Yeah, I'm a dirty stalker

Tidus!! You've just spoilt the magic :P
But it's more than just that I'm proud of, as I DO reveal my update. And yes, I'll get back to your Friend request on Youtube, even though I think that feature's almost pointless

arvain - Yep, I do plan to keep the videos going as well as the accomplishments. In fact, to mark today's update I'd go for something quite epic - not very often you see any Peter Frampton vox vids around here, if any. But thankyou

werelord - Yeah, I know it's probably true that I may not be as well known as them. But it's not that that concerns me though - I do feel happy to be rockin' the leaderboards (even if my path for "Blue Day" still needs heavy revision), yet unsettled that at the same time, the people that watch me on Youtube didn't like to pay any notice. As I said, that would get remarked in my last FC.

And the words of the prophet is written on that virtual wall,
A high score wall,
And echoes with the sound... of CHOCOLATE!

Mwahahaha, update coming!

Update: January 8th 2010

Video Feature: Do You Feel Like We Do? (Live)

Only Dailymotion can be perfect enough to host a full 14-minute vox run without any painful editing. I'm pretty sure I'd call it one of my more frilling vox runs during that fateful New Year's Eve, so easily.

GH5 Progress Report: Well, I managed to free up time to do this thing today. First of all, FCs #81 and 82.

Both of these songs were a piece of cake providing I knew which pitches were to be directed there. The only chokable part for "No One to Depend On" for me was the short "No tengo" part just before the long instrumental section; as for "You Give Love a Bad Name", it's more often the bridges for me but I've grown more accustomed for them since knowing what the game wants.

And after that... we have the ENDGAME!

Tidus, you saw this coming. :P
A couple of funny things happened there. Firstly, after reading about the song on Wikipedia and seeing how they occasionally altered a line in the middle of the song to reference to baseball (something to do with an MLBPA strike in the past), I thought I'd do a similar thing in my video recording to show my discontent for the hundreds of Youtube subscribers I have and next to none of them thinking I'm not all that good at Guitar Hero - hence, "One likes to believe in the freedom of Youtube".
Secondly, I also realised that my star power path was terrible, so after getting the take on film, I revised my Star Power path and tried again off-camera. And guess where it took me? Only to 1st Place not ONLY on the Wii, but also Worldwide! HOLY COW!!

So freakin' HAPPY! Course, someone like Airshock or arvain may beat it eventually, but I'm gonna be so proud on this one for now

And this means... new banner time!

I suppose this is the part now when I start thanking everyone for the support over the past 2-3 weeks while I tackled this ordeal. I'm not very good at speeches, even in written form; but the support I've had from the people that visited over the past few weeks has been phenomenal; gotta hand it to people like Tidus, werelord and chaosfreak for noting all this almost all the way through, those that supported early on (yes dr00bles, I'm looking at you ), and quite a few late personnel as well (yes including you arvain, I won't leave you out ^_^).

But if I didn't recall you, don't feel discouraged because the support I received throughout this whole thing has still been great, no matter how big or small the daily response was. Remember what I said to Tidus when he felt like quitting - there's nothing worse than working so hard on something and having no one look at it (and that's exactly how I feel towards my Youtube subscribers). So yes, I freakin' love you guys

I'm now going to take a little break over the weekend before I even think of my next move. My throat still needs to make a full recovery, this harsh winter isn't doing any favors either, and I think I deserve it after all the hard work put in. Cheers!

Yep, I was waiting for it!

But still, such a fast FGFC of such a tough game...you speak about the YT thingy...my channel is pretty miscelaneous, as you noted. Still, I didn't get any hard feelings for it. Maybe it's because of the astronomically smaller number of subscribers?

Back on topic though, you have a BIG reason to rejoice. It feels really good to support a person like you. You do deserve a break, because playing a harsh game like Band Hero on a harsh winter with a harsh cold is really painful.

For now, a BIG congrats from me! *hugs*

Congrats on all your previous Vocals accomplishments and most of all the GH5X FGFC!! I'm not a Vocalist myself (I play almost exclusively Guitar), but from what I've heard from Tidus' thread, a FGFC in GH5 sounds insanely hard, and it seems you got through it quite easily :O

I'm actually a new fan of yours since a week or 2: when I saw you post on our mutual friend's thread (Tidus again of course XD), I noticed you were a woman (yay!! finally one more of us here ) and I've been intriged to read about you! And you're just awesome So I thought I'd write my first post of 2010 here, in a new (and epic!) thread that I certainly added to my favorites!

Oh and did I say you have an awesome voice? I really like it! *jealous* Like I was saying, I'm far from being a Vocalist, I actually played a total of about 3 hours of GH/RB Vocals so far >_> But, the last 2 hours I played were this week, after I watched a couple of your videos.. In the ~one hour session I had played previously, I (silly me) tried to pass Under Pressure and didn't succeed (after Tidus' FC of it), but I passed it first try after watching your FC video!! I also passed Sowing Season first try (only 3* though) and I hear it's one of the hard ones.... So yeah, also thanks for helping me and motivating me to try out Vocals for the 2nd time ever, even though I can barely sing any word yet, unless I really know a song (which I don't in this game )

Hopefully I can continue to follow your progress regularly, I'll definitely try to support you from time to time I'm pretty much absent here these days though, I've taken a holidays break.. Things have been CRAZY at home (I'm a mom with a 4 months old and a terrible 2 ), holidays left me completely exhausted lol (I'm sooo relieved it's over >_>)!

Woops sorry about such a long post (oh well it's my only 2010 post XD), I guess it's been too long since I wrote anything....

Can't wait to see your next Vox moves, and more videos (still have a few left to watch too!), keep it up! (after a little deserved rest..)

Ehehe, quite a few responses here, so thanks everyone I'll see what I can do.

arvain - Nah, I won't steal your "new words" - we all have our own lingo
I still bet that if I didn't have a week's holiday along with the apparent Christmas break, it would've taken longer though, but I suppose it was a fast FGFC; weren't really expecting it XD

chaosfreak07 - Why, thank you very much

Tidus - Yeah, I know you may have a smaller number of subscribers but at least for the most part I bet they seem pretty polite with what they do. Mine on the other hand keep pressurising me to lock myself into doing games made before 2004, because they're stuck in the past and can't get out.

Still, it was awesome to finally take a breather for the first time in a while (though I did take a little time doing some reduxing). I probably won't be doing the Band Hero imports for some time - in fact, my next goal would be to attempt World Tour and the Wii version's apparently broken vocal response engine. Just beating the songs would be enough for me, let alone obtaining any high scores.

But if you think doing Band Hero in the middle of our coldest winter for nearly a century and while recovering from a cold is bad enough, you try being yoinked out of bed at 10 in the morning and doing shopping with your mom in the middle of a harsh winter and with a harsh cold, getting there and back on foot!

Yeah, I kind of rambled too much, but you get the idea.

werelord - Well, I'm most assuming that returning to World Tour is my next move, but the more important thing is even trying to *pass* the songs on Expert level, let alone beating any high scores. After watching Taozack's "Beat It" run, I'm still kind of fearing how to approach it with an otherwise busted vocal response engine.

lilirock - Hey! Another female on the Internet! And a mother at that...!
A really big thanks for your impression there, I feel so flattered!
It's not very often I get people *liking* what my voice is like - more often or not on my native Youtube, I get people saying that A - I sound like a nerdy pre-pubescent boy (!!), B - my accent sounds strange, and C - I apparently sound grating to some. But it's still great reassurance, let me give you that now.

It's awesome that I managed to inspire you to tackle some voxing yourself. Doing "Sowing Season" and "Under Pressure" as your first expert vox songs may not be wise for casual players - and embarassingly, I shall state that my sightread on the latter was a painful 69% - but it shows the amount of determination that you've managed to place in such a short amount of time, so I really hope you could continue on in the future.

On a similar subject, my first attempt at Vox seriously was doing the whole career on Hard on World Tour, which had several shaky moments thoughout. I didn't think I'd be able to manage on that instrument seriously.
Then I saw Dr00bles's run on "Through the Fire and Flames" and that inspired me to A - try and beat his score the following day (and I failed >_>) and B - try and attempt to get better as a vocalist myself. I suppose it all comes down to the games' engines moreso, and the GH:SH engine has a better response time in comparison to WT Wii, which makes it more assuring

But the point really is, if you put your mind in to it, and you know that you may be able to handle it, then you can achieve your goal. Similarly, I can play a lot of songs on guitar (which I know is your forte), but there's one or two that I can't pass, and quite a handful more that I can't even 5*. But I keep trying anyway, knowing that I keep improving little by little every time.

And just like your post (and my response to Tidus's), I've gone on for too long again. I'll be sure to take a breather, fulfil the rest of my recovery, attempt any FCs in WT at all, and redo any cold-ridden FCs for the video archives. Thanks once again ma'am!

Oh cool, some more vocals fcs are coming soon then i guess Any help needed or request on WT, just ask =D But first, get better fast ! (winter this year is getting pretty agressive, i've heard England's having quite a lot of problems with snow and cold =O (so do we in France), which suxx when you try to redux on vox, right ? ah well...

Looking forward to more cool stuff from you !

Note : i didn't think you sounded like A or B or C (some people suck at commenting on singers). You sounded like a girl singing, that was just very cool ;)

That was how I felt when I first made an accomplishments thread on the Rock Band side. For the first few updates I had, I didn't get ANY replies. It was really disappointing. It took a bit of time for me to really get my thread off the ground. See those banners in my sig? Heaven forbid how I would have felt if they didn't get any replies when I earned them, because I went through some brutal experiences to earn them (except What a Horrible Night; i've FC'd that song too many times to care)

...Sorry to take up your time. *hugs* Either way, looking forward to you serving up more awesomesauce, and I hope you get better soon. Where I am it's been pretty cold here, too, ended up sneezing a lot today.

That's a fucking old run lol ( more than 1 year ago, when I used to suck...I got the FC since then xD). Don't worry, you'll be fine.

Anyway, congratulations on your FGFC very, very impressive!
