|
|
Another 6 years have gone by since the last server move, and it was time to move to a new machine.
Server migration is now complete! Here are some updates you may notice:
- Performance should be much improved with the hardware and software updates that have been made.
- All of ScoreHero is now running securely with SSL over https which encrypts all data in transit between your device and ScoreHero. As a side effect of this change, all embedded images on the site must be hosted over SSL (i.e. from a URL starting with https). All external image links (including signatures and avatars) have been changed from http to https which unfortunately breaks a lot of images.
Note: If you are using an avatar or signature containing images linked over http, please update them to valid https URLs instead.
- During updates to the latest software packages, site database and code changes were necessary to maintain proper functionality. While some limited testing was done prior to the move, it's possible you'll run across a feature that doesn't function properly. Report any issues in Bug Reports and I'll keep an eye in there until things are running smooth again.
Thanks and enjoy! _________________

site is much faster now. pretty damn cool to see it running after all these years.
to be certain this site runs for another 10 years, you should do a breakdown of the cost maintaining it so we know how much we have to raise to let it alive.
"a download all score" button to excel (or something else) would be a neat idea function to add in case things get lost if the site dies (hopefully that wont happen).
otehrwise, I wasnt expecting changes, so kudos to you for still keeping it alive. _________________

I cannot update my avatar to use an HTTPS site.
Always says the remote URL is not valid.
The URL I am trying to use is
Code: | https://i.imgur.com/Vv5b1LJ.png |

To Cabanon: Let me know if you want me to email all the scores for all users. My board crawls pull all that data. Now, if you wanted an ability to download just YOUR user submitted scores, I support that idea immensely. 20k individual scores (such as singemrfc) would be painful to lose.
To jcirri: the site runs MUCH faster now. Thank you very much for your continued dedication to this site. _________________

In regards to score downloads, I do think there would be value in preserving individual data externally and will consider that. The site should be all set now for at least several more years to come before another move/decision is necessary, and in the event of disaster, data can be restored from backups.

Please try again as this issue should now be fixed. _________________

Question regarding imgur-hosted links (and potentially other hosts). I have an image at the following URL: https://i.imgur.com/YZAFuT9.png as seen here:
When I enter that URL as my avatar, I get an "image not found" error from imgur as my avatar, but only in posts (on the edit profile screen, it appears correctly). When retrieving that URL, it has apparently become https://i.imgur.com/yzafut9.png which results in this:
Seems like the code is forcing all URLs to be lowercase. Can this be fixed?
Signatures seem to be fine as usual. _________________

my friends scorehero users thelonging and gregoryzero appear to be having issues with being able to post after this migration, is there some potential issue that could be affecting certain user's ability to post?

Code: | Report Failed: Unable to deliver the message. |
And when I go to post and hit submit, the site simply displays a totally blank-white page instead of having my post go through or giving me an error." |

yes just my submitted scores, not everyone else.
also, I'll ask again, but RB score comparison between console. at least the main game, its painful to check tab per tab to see if you're first global or not. _________________

Alright, I've rolled out a bunch of fixes which hopefully addresses the majority of issues that have been reported.
The 403 error when editing profile should be fixed, the lowercase URLs with avatars are fixed (I see them working for others in posts now), and I've detected and fixed a number of other issues which I think may have affected the ability for certain posts to be submitted properly.
Let me know if anyone hears from other members who are still having issues posting to the forums.
This will hopefully also fix the problem with certain user-submitted reports not going through. _________________

Thank you for your work to keep this place alive, Joseph. I respect you greatly for the community you fostered here. Even though I wasn't able to participate at the upper level back in the community's heyday, I recognize that this community made some amazing, magical things happen. Thank you. You're more than welcome at the unofficial SH Discord I made, if you ever want to visit. _________________
