Congratulations on things! |
I just got a job offer
:O |
Awesome! Congrats man!
I just recently posted about a job that I got that I start in June. However, I've been offered another job that pays about a 1/4 more in salary. Downside is the job is located in Alaska at a resort. I really don't mind moving there assuming I actually get the job. It just puts me roughly 4,400 miles away from my family. I use to live 700 miles away from them and that was ok, but this might be different. I think I'd really like this job and the money would be worth it for sure. Guess we shall see what the future holds |

Yesterday I was on a skype call with one of my friends and we were talking about old video games that we enjoyed and I had mentioned the Pac Man World games for gamecube.
Found both pac man world 2 and pac man world 3 and I am going to have such a fantastic weekend playing those. Also found RTS and might return to Pikmin.

All year I've been studying organic chemistry pretty hard, as it's my school's staple "weed-out" class for pre-med students... I've been putting in more than the average amount of work, and been barely beating the curves on most of the exams. I always knew the material really well for the exams, but was always short of doing really well, til now! I got the third highest score in the class on the most recent exam, and have a solid A right now, which only the top 5% of the class get. Yay _________________

So a little while ago in the Rant Thread I mentioned my husband got demoted due to corporate bullshit so we'd be kinda screwed for a while... well turns out they demoted him only to turn around and promote him to a different position better than the one he had. Still annoying as we had to rework our whole budget, but the good news is we're better off now than before. Also, for the first time in 3 years, both of us work Monday-Friday so we will actually have weekends together now. It's gonna be awesome, plus vacation is soon too.
Time to use that extra cash to buy Rush tickets.
Also, the new Mass Effect 3 DLC made me all kinds of happy and sad. Go play it if you love ME3! _________________

After forever and a day - more-or-less a year of recovering from being burned out, followed by a couple months' worth of active searching - I am among the ranks of the employed once again. (At OnLive, the "stream your gaming to every device known to man!" company, if that rings a bell.) It's a mild pay bump from the last place I was at, and the environment there seems way less toxic - met lots of quirky-but-fun folks during the interview process. And they're under 100 employees, so I'm going back to my startup-level roots from a decade ago.
It's probably going to be an inhuman crush of information at first, trying to suss out how everything works there and getting my feet under me... but who doesn't like a good challenge, right? I start there on Monday. I can't wait! _________________

My brother has an eating disorder (along with being mentally handicapped) and is very overweight. Always has been. He maxed out around 340 a few years ago, but has steadily been around 320.
Well, sometime in December, I noticed he was putting on even more weight and decided to try to motivate him into losing some of it. He has the mentality of a 10 year old, so I knew video games would be a huge motivation factor. I set up a calendar, starting January 1st, where he would walk on the treadmill just 20 minutes a day. I gave him Sundays off and every 5th day. He works at McDonalds and I told him not to eat lunch there anymore. He was to mark off everyday that he walked on the treadmill. If he did every single day, I would buy him a new video game for the PS3.
Honestly, I didn't think he would keep up with it. However, sure enough, he did and I bought him Raw vs Smackdown 2013 or whatever it's called. My mom saw that this actually worked for him and decided to keep it up for him. So at the end of every month, he's been getting a new video game. As of April 20, my brother, who suffers to lose even 5 pounds in a 6 month period, has lost 40 pounds! He looks great and I am so happy for him! Seriously, if you knew him, you would know that this is no easy task when you have an eating disorder.
So yeah, that's my feel good post |

My girlfriend and I found a nice and affordable appartment five minutes away from the University we will be attending next semester. I'm so relieved because finding a decent appartment in a city that is ten hours away from where you are is hard and extremely stressful. Can't wait to get started there, but for now, I'll keep enjoying my summer vacation with some parties, gaming nights, occasional gigs, and of course some GH. Probably find a job too, who knows...
EDIT: Also I totally forgot that I'll turn 20 in five days! Woohoo!

I just got a response to a PM I sent 4 years ago, telling me to consume fecal matter.
I can safely say that this is the greatest event of my life. Thank you, anonymous 8 year old, for making my day. _________________

Sometimes, it's really nice to reflect on how life has been treating you.
I logged onto ScoreHero today and it said this is the first time I've logged on since January. That's a very long time, especially considering that this has been the most eventful half year of my life. I graduated high school (woop) and I am attending Vanderbilt University in Nashville this year, and I could not be more blessed/excited to go there. Graduating helped me realize how much help I've received from all the people closest to me. It is an amazing thing, how you can attribute success in your life to others, and many times the events in your life are, in part, results of actions others have taken in your life. This is now my final month living at home and it will be bittersweet moving on to the next chapter of my life, but this next chapter will likely be the best, and I can't wait to tackle it.
Man, I feel good right now. I also miss this forum to death. _________________
