First things first. I finally added a goals section back to my accs. thread, but only for GH:M at the moment. The goals are in the section underneath my FCs.

Now for the real update. I haven't played any Guitar Hero today, but I did a little yesterday.

A few chokes on The Shortest Straw yesterday... I stopped trying when my camera ran out of battery. My best note streak was 897. I swear I'm more consistent at the solo than the rest of the song. It's kind of annoying. I just need a little more time with that song and I'll have the FC. I also worked on Hit the Lights a bit. I FC'd Solo 2 on Slow a few times and then gave up on Full Speed. I'm getting really fricking consistent on Shred 1 and Shred 3, but I still have a couple issues with the random strums on Shred 2. This FC is actually possible

I love Halo 3. I'm just gonna come right out and say it. I'm getting addicted. What does that mean? That my time will be magically split between H3 and GH. Half and half, right? Unforunately, there's a problem.

I suck balls at Guitar Hero. You know how every competitive GH player goes through phases where they just tear up the plastar for a week, and then for two weeks or so they improve really really slowly? I'm in that latter phase at the moment, and for some reason I'm really losing the passion that I usually have for this game. It's very disheartening to play TTFAF countless times, only to approach 566k maybe once in fifteen runs, and then not even reach it. Not to mention the fact that I'm scared to go for GH3 FCs because I can't strum fast parts. Couple that with the fact that GHWT sucks balls and I'm forced to either play GH:M or Halo 3. If you've been reading carefully, you'll know that I find playing long songs disheartening, and I can't strum fast. It's funny how that works, isn't it? Unfortunately, GH:M combines the two things I can't do well and the one thing I can do well (play solos) and put them together for me.

So naturally, I spend a lot of time in practice mode playing Metallica solos. That way, I don't have to do the fast strumming which causes me to fuck up FC runs all the time. However, there is one song that I always seem to play each month or so that I put the GH:M disc into my XBOX. That song is Disposable Heroes.

In my mind, the greatest song to ever be put on a Guitar Hero game. Not necessarily because it's my favorite song out of the entire series (although I must say it's probably my favorite song on GH:M), but because each time I play the song, everything that has been going on seems to go away. By that I mean that since I only play GH:M when I'm getting annoyed with GH3, I usually only play it during those times when I'm not doing very well in Guitar Hero. The latter phase I formerly (lol) described. And because of that, I always see a huge improvement in my score. Every time I play Disposable Heroes, I have an increase of at least 50k. The last time I played the song I had a score increase of 100k, and I had finally 5*'d the song. This time, my increase was something like 78k, and very close to a 6*. You see, Disposable Heroes tells me to keep playing the game, because it shows me that I am indeed improving at the game, and that there's still a reason for me to play the game. There's improvement, and the things this song shows me I can still do encourage me to continue to grind out other songs.

Disposable Heroes is the inspiration I need to FC songs. It gets my spirits up whenever I play, and from that huge increase today, it seems like thousands of doors that I had closed in the past week just opened up again. FCs are once more possible. My self-esteem in terms of these games shot up immensely, all from under 10 minutes of play. This is what fuels my addiction.

I just got XBL over the weekend, and have been playing Halo 3 for the most part, trying to get better (yeah I still suck ), but I did download the free GH3 DLC available, and sightread everything but Gergorge two days ago. Here were the results:

Today I played TDWDTG and failed my first try. Went into practice mode and played both of the solos in their entireties for fun and FC'd them both of course.

Play the song again, and passed it with 398k. That's like 4.2* I think. Pretty good for a first run if you ask me. Then I played W3K again and 5*'d it my first try... haha right now I'm going for a W3K 7* and Slash 6*.

Slash I think I could get pretty easily, and W3K maybe... IDK. I know it can be 8*'d, so I should be able to get a 7* on it... I should probably go and 5* Tom MOrello too... That song is seven pounds of FUCKED UP.

Also, if you don't know, the Badass Rivalry and the Kentucky Rivalry are having one huge Rivalry against each other. If you haven't yet, check it out here.

Our first song is TWiE. I figure that if I want to help my team out, I should try to get at least 500k, so I'll be working on that all week as well. The score is due on the 18th, so I have a good amount of time to get a solid score on it. I might work on it a bit today, but I'll probably just be going for the W3K 7* and then the Slash 6*.

Oh, and XBOX LIVE FUCKING RULES. IT MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER!

More World Tour today... Got another 7 FCs so I'm up to 25! Most notable of the FCs was Feel The Pain, which I got on video! Except for my camera died in the middle of the run, so I don't actually have a video. I do have a photo though, which I'll upload a little later.

Not only FCs, but I got a bunch of new 5*s. Including Hot For Teacher, which I bumped up from a really ugly 3 star, so I feel really good about that right now .

Still can't strum that well, and I don't trust the WT's HoPo engine at all, so I strum most of the HoPo notes that I play . Oh well, I feel really good about this Feel the Pain business, so yay

Got sick of GH3 and my inability to strum, so I put in the worst game ever GHWT and decided to up my FC count... I got seven new FCs. Most notably "Are You Gonna Go My Way" on my second try (first time I messed up like a note after the intro...). Since this game isn't really played competitively, I don't really give a shit about SP paths and the like, so I'm just going for FCs, ignoring the score. These were the FCs I got today:

Also, to become better at strumming, I'm setting a goal to FC Assassin. We'll see if it happens. I five starred it for the first time today, so maybe I can get better. I'll probably end up using a path for it, simply because it's a cool FC (imo).

It's not a bad reaction, but it isn't exactly JLC material...

Anyways, I was supposed to be doing an FC Fest with HungrySanta today. We were going to try and get a combined 15 FCs on the day, but he only got one and I got two, before my friends so rudely intruded on my FC'age and forced me to leave the house. The FCs I got were Miss Murder on the second or third run, and Paint it Black on my second run. I then decided to go for Cherub Rock after deeming once again My Name is Jonas to be impossible, and after about four runs, I finally FC'd to the outro, only to choke miserably. 1094 note streak...

It was inevitable I guess... I hadn't really practiced the outro at all, so I didn't really know anything about it. Nevertheless, I played the outro in practice mode moments later, and (of course) FC'd it on my first try. Good times? I think not. Whatever though, the rest of the day was fine.

I went to my friend's house and played Halo 3, and then went to a park and played frisbee for hours. Speaking of H3, funny story, haha... It was my first time playing H3 multiplayer (I don't have XBL yet), and we were playing on the map with all the snow. Since I don't play much Halo (I'm sort of addicted to a different video game), I didn't know much about the maps, and on top of that, I was getting raped one on one against my friend. Anyways, my friends told me that there was a surefire way to kill anyone on that map. They told me about these "special turrets" that were on the edges of the map. I ran over to one of the Special Turrets and jumped around on it, trying to figure out how to use it. Eventually my friend came over to me and was about to kill me with a shotgun. Since I couldn't figure out how to use the special turrets, I started moving backwards to get out of shotgun range. All of a sudden, I died. Turns out those damn "Special Turrets" were actually Guardians. Needless to say, I lost 15-1. At least I got a kill in!

First of all, I haven't played TTFAF in a WHILLEEEE. Haven't made it through an entire run in probably over a week or so... Instead, I've been working on squeezing and getting those ohsoeasyFCs I have to get at some point or another. And it's worked well . Between yesterday and today I got 8 FCs!

I went through my manage scores page yesterday, and picked out a bunch of songs that I could VERY EASILY FC, and those alone would put me up to about 40. Following that, I would just need to pick a few songs and grind those a little bit and I could get the FC. Of those songs, I FC'd 7 between yesterday and today, and that put me up to 30. I then thought I could try Go That Far since I had a bad score on it. I took the outro into practice mode to see if the BBGGBBGGBBGG part was really that difficult, and what do you know... First try FC. So I was like maybe I can FC this. Looked up the path, and first try I got the FC of the whole song! . So that puts me up to 31 GH3X FCs. I might try to get to 40 tomorrow, and then start to grind the following songs:

RYLaH: My only real trouble spot is solo 2... It's that stupid GRGGRYRR thing that always trips me up...
WttJ: Jungle Breakdown still gives me trouble...
Cherub Rock: I'm afraid to play this song for fear that I'll outro choke...
Black Sunshine: I'm extremely inconsistent on the Break Down...
P&J: Verse 3 trill from hell
Stricken: Getting better at tapping the solo... So definitely possible.
3&7: Want to get this as my 37th FC (Santa's idea), so I might not wait to grind this one out.
CoP: Not consistent at Keep Soloing yet, but Solo! is getting better. And I still have yet to hit Start Soloing on Full Speed... Whaddaya know... That's like half the song >_>
CoD: I hit that random yellow in ISB like once every 25 runs... And if I hit that, I'm sure I'll choke in Solo D. And if I hit that too, it'll be easy. I never miss in OLS.

So today I woke up feeling good about getting a TTFAF 5*. I loaded up my camera and got it ready to record a 566k+ run, but for some reason, when I have the camera running, I don't perform as well. I screwed up so much, and the only run I actually finished was only about 520k, so I decided to stop...

So I went into practice mode and started messing around with Solo Fill 1. I figured that if I could get an FC from the end of Synth Death to the end of Grinding Scales II, I'd be in pretty good shape (I'm nowhere near consistent on Synth Death =/). The main thing giving me issues in Solo Fill 1 was the part just before the SP phrase. Well, I slowed it down a bit and made a tapping (yes, tapping) method to hit it pretty much every time. I got it up to full speed in about 10 minutes, but I just learned to tap (see: TTFAF pass like only a week ago), and I'm really not that good at it. So I figured I'd learn to tap some other stuff first. I decided to practice on Cult of Personality, and wouldn't you know it? I found a method for "Solo!" that works for me! I got it up to Full Speed, and then FC'd it twice in a row. I'm still using it and it works pretty much every time. I then decided to learn "Start Soloing". Got it up to Slow with and FC, and got each part of it on Full Speed. Hopefully I'll get up to full speed on that in time.

Ugh, today I was doing really bad with TTFAF. My arms were super sore from yesterday, so I knew already that I was gonna have a bad TTFAF day. That's okay. I did a lot of practicing, and then had two runs where I got into Synth Death with 240k and 216k, respectively, and ended up failing in Twin and Sam's, respectively. That's okay though, 'cause I knew I wasn't going to go through with either of them... Especially the 216k one. So I was really frustrated at my inability to hold a combo where I should be, so I practiced a lot of those places where I should be having a 100+ note streak but hadn't been getting that, and I got better at them. I tried another run, and got 294k into Synth Death! I then proceeded to fuck up synth death, not get the SP at the end, and eventually fail at the end of Twin Solo. I decided to try one more time. 290k into synth death, but I then raped it and got my activation in Grinding Scales II, which I kind of messed up. I then got an activation at the end of Herman's 1, and icked up the H2 SP. I then MISSED THE TWIN SOLO SP PHRASE WTF, and got into Here We Stand with 464k. I was like "oh shit I missed that SP", but knew that if I got more SP, I would get the 5*. I missed the Here We Stand SP, but GOT THE RED SNAKE SP. Psyche... I got lucky though and got the SP at the beginning of rampaging dragons, and activated immediately. I fucked up Almost There, and did fine in You Rock!!!, getting me 536k. I know now that if I relax for the rest of the day, tomorrow a 5* will happen. The only reason I kept failing in Twin was because my arms were tired and my fingers didn't want to move properly, so I pretty much just flailed REALLY wildly and strummed REALLY fast... Anyways, yeah... Hopefully I can pick up the 5* tomorrow

Wow that was just insane! Today was a good day so far for GH, and believe it or not, it ain't over. I started out the day learning that I was in a GH3 tournament and in the first round, I was up against onestepcloser playing In Love. I looked up the path and decided to FC it. After a few tries, I finally got the FC, but fucked up the third activation after getting both the first and second squeezes . Regardless, it got me like 281.8k, which was good enough for 105th on the 360. I tried for a re-FC, but I missed the double squeeze and dropped a crapload of ticks, so I only got like 281.5k I think... Anyways, after that I read up on ticks and decided to try to get onto the first page of the Closer scores. After missing a squeeze somewhere TWICE and ending up with like 600 behind second place, I gave up and decided to practice TTFAF and TWiE.

After trying the gallpo method on Post Insanity and doing realatively well for like 5 minutes, I went over to TWiE. First, run 318k, BUT I realized what I had been doing wrong all along. Strumming too fast. To the point where I start my bursts in the space with no notes and miss hella. So the next run, I tried to remedy that, and what do you know? Not only did I 5* it, I got 400k!!! And that was with a bad run in the solo too!!! Yes, I'd like to dedicate this to fudrick.

Right after that, I was feeling kind of lucky, so I went for Mauvais Garcon, and I five starred that little bitch too first try! Still feeling really lucky, I went to TTL, and BARELY scraped out of there with a 5* on my first try .

So that left me with just TTFAF and NotB left to 5*, so obviously I went to TTFAF, 'cause it's easier (>_>) and first run with terrible SP got 500k! Second run with terrible SP I got 518k! So I figured if I get good SP and activate properly and everything, I can EASILY get the 566k required for a 5*. For those of you that are also trying to get a 5* but don't have a path, you might want to try this one out. Note that this is catered to my skills and so you might not be holding 4xs in the same places as I am. If you can though, give this path a try. I'm pretty sure it's a solid 5* path, and I know it could help me get close to 600k if I got a good run and was able to get all these activations:

2-3: Activate right after the SP phrase sweep in PI. If you don't get 2 phrases in the intro, start over.
2: Get the next two phrases and activate immediately after the second phrase (the long streak of greens).
2: Get the next two phrases and activate in the middle of the next GRY chord (this is on the optimal path too)
1: Activate on the RYB chord
2-3: Get any 2 of the next 3 phrases (all three if you can), and activate on the GRY chord immediately after the 3rd phrase.
2-3: Get at least the next phrase and all the whammy out of the two big chords in the second phrase, and then get the first phrase in Synth Death. You should have pretty much a full bar of SP right here, so activate as soon as you hit the three note chord in Synth Death. That should last you all the way to the beginning of the GB chord.
2: Get the next two phrases (the trills one isn't that hard if you tap it) and activate it in Grinding Scales II.
2: Get the first SP phrase in Climactic Build up for sure, and if you get the second one, activate immediately. If not, get the phrase in Herman's and activate immediately.
2-5: Get as many of the remaining phrases as you can (there will be 4 before the snake, and then the first phrase of Rampaging Dragons), and activate immediately after the first phrase in rampaging dragons.

That should be enough to do it. If you have any suggestions on how to make my path better, any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Remember, this might not work for you, but for the most part, it works well for me. Sometimes though, I don't get a phrase or two and it completely screws me up for like 2 or 3 activations, but I usually get back on track. Anyways, today's been good so far. I have 518k on TTFAF, and I think I could get the 5* within the next 45 minutes if I tried for it...

Oh, and yesterday, I got 4 easy FCs...

I passed! It finally happened, and with a pretty solid score if I may say so myself. I know I could 5* it if I could just start holding combos though in Post Insanity and Rampaging Dragons. I can usually get the SP in PI, but I never get either of the phrases in RD, and that's probably costing me lots of points. If I'm able to get two SP phrases before SFA3, then I activate right after the first SP phrase (miss or not) and I usually end up getting around 60k post Twin Solo, but if I don't already have two phrases, I usually end up not getting a last activation, and get like 40k... So that last section is really crucial. I also typically get into Cold Winter Morning with like 60k, so that's not good either. I'm having issues finding a method that works though. I've tried to learn the gallops method that utilizes the hammer-ons, and I've tried altering it to something like this:

But that doesn't seem to work too well on Slow, so I haven't really tried it on Full Speed. Also, just for reference, my method for using hammer ons is:

Problem is, for some reason I always screw up on the middle parts where I'm only downstrumming. It seems I'm not fast enough or something. So I've also tried:

But I'm REALLY bad at that, and that doesn't even work on slowest. Of course, there's always the:

But we all know how that ends (60k coming into Cold Winter Morning). Does anyone have any tips on what I should do? I'm really kind of stuck here, and my preferred gallop method (all downstrums in between) is only working like 40% of the time on SLOW, so I have no idea how long it will take to get up to full speed. I really want this 5*.

Well, exactly 2 months after my first choke, I FINALLY FC'd DOWN 'N DIRTY!!! And on my second try as well! I went into practice mode and tried out 2A, which I missed like three notes from the end my first try. Then, I did it again, and missed the first note but hit everything else. I was sure I could do it, and my very next one, I FC'd it. So I was all fuck it let's try for the FC now. My first try, I messed up at the end of 2A, and then went on to miss in the next chorus. I decided to play it again, but I was almost certain I'd miss in that chorus again... And guess what, I FC'd 2A and then 2B after that (I've gotten REALLY consistent with that annoying strumming, so I hit 2B 100% of the time now) so I was like "shit I should have taken the chorus into practice mode 'cause now I'm gonna miss". But then as I approached the chorus, I was like "fuck this let's man the fuck up and pay attention". I paid the utmost attention to the chorus, and came out with an FC intact! Keeping that same focus, I made it through the rest of the song and finally saw that 1278 Note streak I've been aching to see. FC #17, and it feels DAMN good.

Right before that though, I got I'm in the Band, after lots of hell. I decided to try it out today for fun, to see if I'd FC it, and it was so damn easy. BUT, and there's always a but, I was having major issues with the triplet strumming when I had to whammy, because I could either alt strum it and miss the whammy, or downstrum it and risk missing a note. With a little help from some fellow SH'ers (thanks guys ), I got to the solo with an FC and then OVERSTRUMMED . I then got to Major Riffage and OVERSTRUMMED in the fast strumming. I was all like wtf mofo man my life blows. So I was like shit I should learn to do that strumming with the hammer-ons. Within five minutes I was consistent, so I tried it again a few times but never even made it out of the intro. Finally, I was like "okay if I don't make it out of the intro this time, I'm giving up on this song for now", and I made it all the way to the solo, where I wtfmissed (I NEVER miss in the solo), and then FC'd the rest of the song. The very next run, ANOTHER -1 in the solo! So I was like "lol I'ma FC it now" and the very next run, FC! Pretty sick, if you ask me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the camera so there's no pic. And then as luck would have it, I found the camera moments after going back to the setlist, so bleh... FC #16!

After getting DnD, I went over to the RaRAN solo, and played around a bit. After a little work, I figured it out and FC'd it, so I whipped out the path, courtesy of slowhero/debr, and decided to take a few runs to figure it out. First run, I missed everywhere BUT the solo. So I was like "wtf" and tried it again. This time, I missed in the solo. I played like two more times and was like "screw this I'll do it tomorrow."

Then I found that I was like 100k from 20 mil, so I was like "let's get 20 mil and then stop playing for the day". I went and reduxed Reptilia (which I choked in 19 notes from the end), Suck My Tits (missed in the solo, which isn't hard), Helicopter (FC'd the fast strumming... wtf), and She Bangs the Drums (which I lolmissed in), and boom! 20 million!!! I think I could get that up to 21 mil relatively quickly if I worked on the easy songs and passed TTFAF, but we'll see.

All in all, this was a great day for Guitar Hero.

So... IDK whether to say quite a bit happened today or not too much happened today... Probably not too much.

I FC'd Observation Solo of TKAR, so that means the only section I have left is Baggage Solo 2, and I've done that clusterfuck of notes on Slow a couple of times in the past, and once today - I can FC the trills every time on Full Speed. Other than that, I've FC'd everything else in the song.

I then switched back to GH3 and pretty much lived in practice mode. I practiced Raining Blood quite a bit, and finally got a Verse FC. Moreover, I figured it out and can nab that SP phrase more often than not, so now I'll be changing the path I use to 2-2-2, with activations in Hard Rain, the beginning of Mosh 2, and the Chorus, respectively, and hopefully that'll help. I also found a new method to hit the annoying in Mosh 2 that occasionally gives me problems. I now do it from first position instead of second - hit it every time. So then I tried from Mosh 2 to the beginning of Flood, and I pretty much FC'd it! That means if I get consistent on the Bridge, Chorus, and Verse, that I could have like a 600+ note streak . Oh, and I also got a 106 NOTE STREAK on Mosh 1!!! Freakin' sick.

Then, I went over to Stricken, after watching this video that demonstrates a super good method of tapping it. Since I had been getting frustrated with the transition from the first fast part to the second fast part, I decided to try tapping because 1 handed just wasn't getting that job done. It worked on Slowest, so I tried it on Slow, but that didn't work out too well. So I moved down to Slower, and when I got good at that, I moved up to Slow, and got about 75% consistent with it in about 10 minutes. I tried it on Full Speed a few times, but that didn't really work, so I decided to "let it simmer" overnight, and hopefully the next time I try it I'll be able to do it.

Next, I went over to TWiE. I went from Ambient Solo to Bridge 3, and the only misses I had were really fucking stupid ones in Shredding Solo 1, and in Bridge 3 (I held down the blue fret when I was supposed to be strumming yellows). Regardless, I came out of that with like a 96% or so, so I then went to work on Verse 1 and Bridge 1; both improved. So I was pretty pleased. Then I went to CoD and did bleh... I need to learn the reversehorse, 'cause I know an FC could happen if I learned that.

So I pretty much spent my entire day in Practice Mode... Like I said, IDK whether that's quite a bit, or not...

Just switched back to GH3 today and got a LOT of work done!

First of all, I finally 5*'d Raining Blood! It took me four tries haha. My first try, I got 180k , second try I got 225k, third I got 223k, and then FINALLY I 5*'d it with 239k. So that means that I only have NotB until I get El Jefe!

After that, I went on a score rampage and increased quite a few of my scores, all the while opening up some possibilities for new FCs! Here are the things that happened today:

Of those, only the following are important:

BSTFC: I played it to increase my score, and I pretty much FC'd outside of the Breakdown (missed one trill, but who's counting?). I went into practice mode, and got bitched on by the Breakdown once, then FC'd it twice in a row, only to get shat on the third time. I want this FC, but I don't want to waste time FC'ing everything, only to be shut down there, so I might just try to FC it once a day or so.

3's & 7's TFC: This song is definitely easy now . Problem is, I always choke in the weird strumming towards the end. Like BS, I'll try this once or twice a day.

Psychotic Breakdown work: I think I FC'd it again today, but I still have a lot of work to do on it to get consistent, and then there's the weird zig that makes Impulse a tough FC =/.

DnD: What more can I say? This FC should have happened months ago... I don't know what to do.

FCP rape: I FC'd End Lead in practice mode, and 100% overstrummed in the reds in an actual run... I'm getting better at every part of this song, and an FC looks potentially possible before summer's end.

NFMH 6*: More than the 6*, I've gained CONSISTENCY on the riffs. This FC looks SOOOOO possible right now. I'm super excited.

You may have seen this same list previously with all the multipliers but without the stars but I've added the stars again for the following reason: I want to play Guitar Hero competitively but I'm annoyed at GH3. Unforunately, I suck at GH2, GHWT is a joke, and I don't like GH:A's engine. So the only other game I have is GH:M, and so I'm going to play it competitively. First things first. I finally added a goals section back to my accs. thread, but only for GH:M at the moment. The goals are in the section underneath my FCs.

Now for the real update. I haven't played any Guitar Hero today, but I did a little yesterday.

A few chokes on The Shortest Straw yesterday... I stopped trying when my camera ran out of battery. My best note streak was 897. I swear I'm more consistent at the solo than the rest of the song. It's kind of annoying. I just need a little more time with that song and I'll have the FC. I also worked on Hit the Lights a bit. I FC'd Solo 2 on Slow a few times and then gave up on Full Speed. I'm getting really fricking consistent on Shred 1 and Shred 3, but I still have a couple issues with the random strums on Shred 2. This FC is actually possible

I love Halo 3. I'm just gonna come right out and say it. I'm getting addicted. What does that mean? That my time will be magically split between H3 and GH. Half and half, right? Unforunately, there's a problem.

I suck balls at Guitar Hero. You know how every competitive GH player goes through phases where they just tear up the plastar for a week, and then for two weeks or so they improve really really slowly? I'm in that latter phase at the moment, and for some reason I'm really losing the passion that I usually have for this game. It's very disheartening to play TTFAF countless times, only to approach 566k maybe once in fifteen runs, and then not even reach it. Not to mention the fact that I'm scared to go for GH3 FCs because I can't strum fast parts. Couple that with the fact that GHWT sucks balls and I'm forced to either play GH:M or Halo 3. If you've been reading carefully, you'll know that I find playing long songs disheartening, and I can't strum fast. It's funny how that works, isn't it? Unfortunately, GH:M combines the two things I can't do well and the one thing I can do well (play solos) and put them together for me.

So naturally, I spend a lot of time in practice mode playing Metallica solos. That way, I don't have to do the fast strumming which causes me to fuck up FC runs all the time. However, there is one song that I always seem to play each month or so that I put the GH:M disc into my XBOX. That song is Disposable Heroes.

In my mind, the greatest song to ever be put on a Guitar Hero game. Not necessarily because it's my favorite song out of the entire series (although I must say it's probably my favorite song on GH:M), but because each time I play the song, everything that has been going on seems to go away. By that I mean that since I only play GH:M when I'm getting annoyed with GH3, I usually only play it during those times when I'm not doing very well in Guitar Hero. The latter phase I formerly (lol) described. And because of that, I always see a huge improvement in my score. Every time I play Disposable Heroes, I have an increase of at least 50k. The last time I played the song I had a score increase of 100k, and I had finally 5*'d the song. This time, my increase was something like 78k, and very close to a 6*. You see, Disposable Heroes tells me to keep playing the game, because it shows me that I am indeed improving at the game, and that there's still a reason for me to play the game. There's improvement, and the things this song shows me I can still do encourage me to continue to grind out other songs.

Disposable Heroes is the inspiration I need to FC songs. It gets my spirits up whenever I play, and from that huge increase today, it seems like thousands of doors that I had closed in the past week just opened up again. FCs are once more possible. My self-esteem in terms of these games shot up immensely, all from under 10 minutes of play. This is what fuels my addiction.

I just got XBL over the weekend, and have been playing Halo 3 for the most part, trying to get better (yeah I still suck ), but I did download the free GH3 DLC available, and sightread everything but Gergorge two days ago. Here were the results:

Today I played TDWDTG and failed my first try. Went into practice mode and played both of the solos in their entireties for fun and FC'd them both of course.

Play the song again, and passed it with 398k. That's like 4.2* I think. Pretty good for a first run if you ask me. Then I played W3K again and 5*'d it my first try... haha right now I'm going for a W3K 7* and Slash 6*.

Slash I think I could get pretty easily, and W3K maybe... IDK. I know it can be 8*'d, so I should be able to get a 7* on it... I should probably go and 5* Tom MOrello too... That song is seven pounds of FUCKED UP.

Also, if you don't know, the Badass Rivalry and the Kentucky Rivalry are having one huge Rivalry against each other. If you haven't yet, check it out here.

Our first song is TWiE. I figure that if I want to help my team out, I should try to get at least 500k, so I'll be working on that all week as well. The score is due on the 18th, so I have a good amount of time to get a solid score on it. I might work on it a bit today, but I'll probably just be going for the W3K 7* and then the Slash 6*.

Oh, and XBOX LIVE FUCKING RULES. IT MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER!

More World Tour today... Got another 7 FCs so I'm up to 25! Most notable of the FCs was Feel The Pain, which I got on video! Except for my camera died in the middle of the run, so I don't actually have a video. I do have a photo though, which I'll upload a little later.

Not only FCs, but I got a bunch of new 5*s. Including Hot For Teacher, which I bumped up from a really ugly 3 star, so I feel really good about that right now .

Still can't strum that well, and I don't trust the WT's HoPo engine at all, so I strum most of the HoPo notes that I play . Oh well, I feel really good about this Feel the Pain business, so yay

Got sick of GH3 and my inability to strum, so I put in the worst game ever GHWT and decided to up my FC count... I got seven new FCs. Most notably "Are You Gonna Go My Way" on my second try (first time I messed up like a note after the intro...). Since this game isn't really played competitively, I don't really give a shit about SP paths and the like, so I'm just going for FCs, ignoring the score. These were the FCs I got today:

It's not a bad reaction, but it isn't exactly JLC material...

Anyways, I was supposed to be doing an FC Fest with HungrySanta today. We were going to try and get a combined 15 FCs on the day, but he only got one and I got two, before my friends so rudely intruded on my FC'age and forced me to leave the house. The FCs I got were Miss Murder on the second or third run, and Paint it Black on my second run. I then decided to go for Cherub Rock after deeming once again My Name is Jonas to be impossible, and after about four runs, I finally FC'd to the outro, only to choke miserably. 1094 note streak...

It was inevitable I guess... I hadn't really practiced the outro at all, so I didn't really know anything about it. Nevertheless, I played the outro in practice mode moments later, and (of course) FC'd it on my first try. Good times? I think not. Whatever though, the rest of the day was fine.

I went to my friend's house and played Halo 3, and then went to a park and played frisbee for hours. Speaking of H3, funny story, haha... It was my first time playing H3 multiplayer (I don't have XBL yet), and we were playing on the map with all the snow. Since I don't play much Halo (I'm sort of addicted to a different video game), I didn't know much about the maps, and on top of that, I was getting raped one on one against my friend. Anyways, my friends told me that there was a surefire way to kill anyone on that map. They told me about these "special turrets" that were on the edges of the map. I ran over to one of the Special Turrets and jumped around on it, trying to figure out how to use it. Eventually my friend came over to me and was about to kill me with a shotgun. Since I couldn't figure out how to use the special turrets, I started moving backwards to get out of shotgun range. All of a sudden, I died. Turns out those damn "Special Turrets" were actually Guardians. Needless to say, I lost 15-1. At least I got a kill in!

First of all, I haven't played TTFAF in a WHILLEEEE. Haven't made it through an entire run in probably over a week or so... Instead, I've been working on squeezing and getting those ohsoeasyFCs I have to get at some point or another. And it's worked well . Between yesterday and today I got 8 FCs!

I went through my manage scores page yesterday, and picked out a bunch of songs that I could VERY EASILY FC, and those alone would put me up to about 40. Following that, I would just need to pick a few songs and grind those a little bit and I could get the FC. Of those songs, I FC'd 7 between yesterday and today, and that put me up to 30. I then thought I could try Go That Far since I had a bad score on it. I took the outro into practice mode to see if the BBGGBBGGBBGG part was really that difficult, and what do you know... First try FC. So I was like maybe I can FC this. Looked up the path, and first try I got the FC of the whole song! . So that puts me up to 31 GH3X FCs. I might try to get to 40 tomorrow, and then start to grind the following songs:

RYLaH: My only real trouble spot is solo 2... It's that stupid GRGGRYRR thing that always trips me up...
WttJ: Jungle Breakdown still gives me trouble...
Cherub Rock: I'm afraid to play this song for fear that I'll outro choke...

So today I woke up feeling good about getting a TTFAF 5*. I loaded up my camera and got it ready to record a 566k+ run, but for some reason, when I have the camera running, I don't perform as well. I screwed up so much, and the only run I actually finished was only about 520k, so I decided to stop...

So I went into practice mode and started messing around with Solo Fill 1. I figured that if I could get an FC from the end of Synth Death to the end of Grinding Scales II, I'd be in pretty good shape (I'm nowhere near consistent on Synth Death =/). The main thing giving me issues in Solo Fill 1 was the part just before the SP phrase. Well, I slowed it down a bit and made a tapping (yes, tapping) method to hit it pretty much every time. I got it up to full speed in about 10 minutes, but I just learned to tap (see: TTFAF pass like only a week ago), and I'm really not that good at it. So I figured I'd learn to tap some other stuff first. I decided to practice on Cult of Personality, and wouldn't you know it? I found a method for "Solo!" that works for me! I got it up to Full Speed, and then FC'd it twice in a row. I'm still using it and it works pretty much every time. I then decided to learn "Start Soloing". Got it up to Slow with and FC, and got each part of it on Full Speed. Hopefully I'll get up to full speed on that in time.

Ugh, today I was doing really bad with TTFAF. My arms were super sore from yesterday, so I knew already that I was gonna have a bad TTFAF day. That's okay. I did a lot of practicing, and then had two runs where I got into Synth Death with 240k and 216k, respectively, and ended up failing in Twin and Sam's, respectively. That's okay though, 'cause I knew I wasn't going to go through with either of them... Especially the 216k one. So I was really frustrated at my inability to hold a combo where I should be, so I practiced a lot of those places where I should be having a 100+ note streak but hadn't been getting that, and I got better at them. I tried another run, and got 294k into Synth Death! I then proceeded to fuck up synth death, not get the SP at the end, and eventually fail at the end of Twin Solo. I decided to try one more time. 290k into synth death, but I then raped it and got my activation in Grinding Scales II, which I kind of messed up. I then got an activation at the end of Herman's 1, and icked up the H2 SP. I then MISSED THE TWIN SOLO SP PHRASE WTF, and got into Here We Stand with 464k. I was like "oh shit I missed that SP", but knew that if I got more SP, I would get the 5*. I missed the Here We Stand SP, but GOT THE RED SNAKE SP. Psyche... I got lucky though and got the SP at the beginning of rampaging dragons, and activated immediately. I fucked up Almost There, and did fine in You Rock!!!, getting me 536k. I know now that if I relax for the rest of the day, tomorrow a 5* will happen. The only reason I kept failing in Twin was because my arms were tired and my fingers didn't want to move properly, so I pretty much just flailed REALLY wildly and strummed REALLY fast... Anyways, yeah... Hopefully I can pick up the 5* tomorrow

Wow that was just insane! Today was a good day so far for GH, and believe it or not, it ain't over. I started out the day learning that I was in a GH3 tournament and in the first round, I was up against onestepcloser playing In Love. I looked up the path and decided to FC it. After a few tries, I finally got the FC, but fucked up the third activation after getting both the first and second squeezes . Regardless, it got me like 281.8k, which was good enough for 105th on the 360. I tried for a re-FC, but I missed the double squeeze and dropped a crapload of ticks, so I only got like 281.5k I think... Anyways, after that I read up on ticks and decided to try to get onto the first page of the Closer scores. After missing a squeeze somewhere TWICE and ending up with like 600 behind second place, I gave up and decided to practice TTFAF and TWiE.

After trying the gallpo method on Post Insanity and doing realatively well for like 5 minutes, I went over to TWiE. First, run 318k, BUT I realized what I had been doing wrong all along. Strumming too fast. To the point where I start my bursts in the space with no notes and miss hella. So the next run, I tried to remedy that, and what do you know? Not only did I 5* it, I got 400k!!! And that was with a bad run in the solo too!!! Yes, I'd like to dedicate this to fudrick.

Right after that, I was feeling kind of lucky, so I went for Mauvais Garcon, and I five starred that little bitch too first try! Still feeling really lucky, I went to TTL, and BARELY scraped out of there with a 5* on my first try .

So that left me with just TTFAF and NotB left to 5*, so obviously I went to TTFAF, 'cause it's easier (>_>) and first run with terrible SP got 500k! Second run with terrible SP I got 518k! So I figured if I get good SP and activate properly and everything, I can EASILY get the 566k required for a 5*. For those of you that are also trying to get a 5* but don't have a path, you might want to try this one out. Note that this is catered to my skills and so you might not be holding 4xs in the same places as I am. If you can though, give this path a try. I'm pretty sure it's a solid 5* path, and I know it could help me get close to 600k if I got a good run and was able to get all these activations:

2-3: Activate right after the SP phrase sweep in PI. If you don't get 2 phrases in the intro, start over.
2: Get the next two phrases and activate immediately after the second phrase (the long streak of greens).
2: Get the next two phrases and activate in the middle of the next GRY chord (this is on the optimal path too)
1: Activate on the RYB chord
2-3: Get any 2 of the next 3 phrases (all three if you can), and activate on the GRY chord immediately after the 3rd phrase.
2-3: Get at least the next phrase and all the whammy out of the two big chords in the second phrase, and then get the first phrase in Synth Death. You should have pretty much a full bar of SP right here, so activate as soon as you hit the three note chord in Synth Death. That should last you all the way to the beginning of the GB chord.
2: Get the next two phrases (the trills one isn't that hard if you tap it) and activate it in Grinding Scales II.
2: Get the first SP phrase in Climactic Build up for sure, and if you get the second one, activate immediately. If not, get the phrase in Herman's and activate immediately.
2-5: Get as many of the remaining phrases as you can (there will be 4 before the snake, and then the first phrase of Rampaging Dragons), and activate immediately after the first phrase in rampaging dragons.

That should be enough to do it. If you have any suggestions on how to make my path better, any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Remember, this might not work for you, but for the most part, it works well for me. Sometimes though, I don't get a phrase or two and it completely screws me up for like 2 or 3 activations, but I usually get back on track. Anyways, today's been good so far. I have 518k on TTFAF, and I think I could get the 5* within the next 45 minutes if I tried for it...

Oh, and yesterday, I got 4 easy FCs...

I passed! It finally happened, and with a pretty solid score if I may say so myself. I know I could 5* it if I could just start holding combos though in Post Insanity and Rampaging Dragons. I can usually get the SP in PI, but I never get either of the phrases in RD, and that's probably costing me lots of points. If I'm able to get two SP phrases before SFA3, then I activate right after the first SP phrase (miss or not) and I usually end up getting around 60k post Twin Solo, but if I don't already have two phrases, I usually end up not getting a last activation, and get like 40k... So that last section is really crucial. I also typically get into Cold Winter Morning with like 60k, so that's not good either. I'm having issues finding a method that works though. I've tried to learn the gallops method that utilizes the hammer-ons, and I've tried altering it to something like this:

But that doesn't seem to work too well on Slow, so I haven't really tried it on Full Speed. Also, just for reference, my method for using hammer ons is:

Problem is, for some reason I always screw up on the middle parts where I'm only downstrumming. It seems I'm not fast enough or something. So I've also tried:

But we all know how that ends (60k coming into Cold Winter Morning). Does anyone have any tips on what I should do? I'm really kind of stuck here, and my preferred gallop method (all downstrums in between) is only working like 40% of the time on SLOW, so I have no idea how long it will take to get up to full speed. I really want this 5*.

Well, exactly 2 months after my first choke, I FINALLY FC'd DOWN 'N DIRTY!!! And on my second try as well! I went into practice mode and tried out 2A, which I missed like three notes from the end my first try. Then, I did it again, and missed the first note but hit everything else. I was sure I could do it, and my very next one, I FC'd it. So I was all fuck it let's try for the FC now. My first try, I messed up at the end of 2A, and then went on to miss in the next chorus. I decided to play it again, but I was almost certain I'd miss in that chorus again... And guess what, I FC'd 2A and then 2B after that (I've gotten REALLY consistent with that annoying strumming, so I hit 2B 100% of the time now) so I was like "shit I should have taken the chorus into practice mode 'cause now I'm gonna miss". But then as I approached the chorus, I was like "fuck this let's man the fuck up and pay attention". I paid the utmost attention to the chorus, and came out with an FC intact! Keeping that same focus, I made it through the rest of the song and finally saw that 1278 Note streak I've been aching to see. FC #17, and it feels DAMN good.

Right before that though, I got I'm in the Band, after lots of hell. I decided to try it out today for fun, to see if I'd FC it, and it was so damn easy. BUT, and there's always a but, I was having major issues with the triplet strumming when I had to whammy, because I could either alt strum it and miss the whammy, or downstrum it and risk missing a note. With a little help from some fellow SH'ers (thanks guys ), I got to the solo with an FC and then OVERSTRUMMED . I then got to Major Riffage and OVERSTRUMMED in the fast strumming. I was all like wtf mofo man my life blows. So I was like shit I should learn to do that strumming with the hammer-ons. Within five minutes I was consistent, so I tried it again a few times but never even made it out of the intro. Finally, I was like "okay if I don't make it out of the intro this time, I'm giving up on this song for now", and I made it all the way to the solo, where I wtfmissed (I NEVER miss in the solo), and then FC'd the rest of the song. The very next run, ANOTHER -1 in the solo! So I was like "lol I'ma FC it now" and the very next run, FC! Pretty sick, if you ask me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the camera so there's no pic. And then as luck would have it, I found the camera moments after going back to the setlist, so bleh... FC #16!

After getting DnD, I went over to the RaRAN solo, and played around a bit. After a little work, I figured it out and FC'd it, so I whipped out the path, courtesy of slowhero/debr, and decided to take a few runs to figure it out. First run, I missed everywhere BUT the solo. So I was like "wtf" and tried it again. This time, I missed in the solo. I played like two more times and was like "screw this I'll do it tomorrow."

Then I found that I was like 100k from 20 mil, so I was like "let's get 20 mil and then stop playing for the day". I went and reduxed Reptilia (which I choked in 19 notes from the end), Suck My Tits (missed in the solo, which isn't hard), Helicopter (FC'd the fast strumming... wtf), and She Bangs the Drums (which I lolmissed in), and boom! 20 million!!! I think I could get that up to 21 mil relatively quickly if I worked on the easy songs and passed TTFAF, but we'll see.

All in all, this was a great day for Guitar Hero.

So... IDK whether to say quite a bit happened today or not too much happened today... Probably not too much.

I FC'd Observation Solo of TKAR, so that means the only section I have left is Baggage Solo 2, and I've done that clusterfuck of notes on Slow a couple of times in the past, and once today - I can FC the trills every time on Full Speed. Other than that, I've FC'd everything else in the song.

I then switched back to GH3 and pretty much lived in practice mode. I practiced Raining Blood quite a bit, and finally got a Verse FC. Moreover, I figured it out and can nab that SP phrase more often than not, so now I'll be changing the path I use to 2-2-2, with activations in Hard Rain, the beginning of Mosh 2, and the Chorus, respectively, and hopefully that'll help. I also found a new method to hit the annoying in Mosh 2 that occasionally gives me problems. I now do it from first position instead of second - hit it every time. So then I tried from Mosh 2 to the beginning of Flood, and I pretty much FC'd it! That means if I get consistent on the Bridge, Chorus, and Verse, that I could have like a 600+ note streak . Oh, and I also got a 106 NOTE STREAK on Mosh 1!!! Freakin' sick.

Then, I went over to Stricken, after watching this video that demonstrates a super good method of tapping it. Since I had been getting frustrated with the transition from the first fast part to the second fast part, I decided to try tapping because 1 handed just wasn't getting that job done. It worked on Slowest, so I tried it on Slow, but that didn't work out too well. So I moved down to Slower, and when I got good at that, I moved up to Slow, and got about 75% consistent with it in about 10 minutes. I tried it on Full Speed a few times, but that didn't really work, so I decided to "let it simmer" overnight, and hopefully the next time I try it I'll be able to do it.

Next, I went over to TWiE. I went from Ambient Solo to Bridge 3, and the only misses I had were really fucking stupid ones in Shredding Solo 1, and in Bridge 3 (I held down the blue fret when I was supposed to be strumming yellows). Regardless, I came out of that with like a 96% or so, so I then went to work on Verse 1 and Bridge 1; both improved. So I was pretty pleased. Then I went to CoD and did bleh... I need to learn the reversehorse, 'cause I know an FC could happen if I learned that.

So I pretty much spent my entire day in Practice Mode... Like I said, IDK whether that's quite a bit, or not...

Just switched back to GH3 today and got a LOT of work done!

First of all, I finally 5*'d Raining Blood! It took me four tries haha. My first try, I got 180k , second try I got 225k, third I got 223k, and then FINALLY I 5*'d it with 239k. So that means that I only have NotB until I get El Jefe!

After that, I went on a score rampage and increased quite a few of my scores, all the while opening up some possibilities for new FCs! Here are the things that happened today:

I went into practice mode, and got bitched on by the Breakdown once, then FC'd it twice in a row, only to get shat on the third time. I want this FC, but I don't want to waste time FC'ing everything, only to be shut down there, so I might just try to FC it once a day or so.

3's & 7's TFC: This song is definitely easy now . Problem is, I always choke in the weird strumming towards the end. Like BS, I'll try this once or twice a day.

Psychotic Breakdown work: I think I FC'd it again today, but I still have a lot of work to do on it to get consistent, and then there's the weird zig that makes Impulse a tough FC =/.

DnD: What more can I say? This FC should have happened months ago... I don't know what to do.

FCP rape: I FC'd End Lead in practice mode, and 100% overstrummed in the reds in an actual run... I'm getting better at every part of this song, and an FC looks potentially possible before summer's end.

NFMH 6*: More than the 6*, I've gained CONSISTENCY on the riffs. This FC looks SOOOOO possible right now. I'm super excited.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT I JUST PASSED FUCKING RAINING BLOOD.

It was my first try of the day. Actually, my first try in like forever.

I missed the first SP phrase and I was like: ... wtf. But for some reason I didn't restart, like I should have. I missed the second one too [which I usually miss] and went into mosh 1. I tried out that alt strum technique, and for the FIRST TIME EVER I PASSED MOSH 1. I was like "HOLY FUCKING SHIT YES!" I even got through it in the high yellow/low green. I went through the next parts and got my first and only SP phrase in the 3 note chords. I went through the rest of it and got to flood. I was like... SHITSHITSHIT 'cause I'm decent at trills but my friend has failed at flood numerous times WITH starpower. So I was like... Uhh fuck?

Anyways, I made it through the last trill flashing red but I wasn't sure if there was another one. I was like holy shit crap. I went through the next like 10 notes and fricking missed one and I was like crap I missed please don't fail. Then I hit the Aftermath note and started jumping up and down screaming for literally 20 seconds until I realized I could still strum my way to a failure of the song.

I PASSED WITH 108,944 OMFG I LOVE THIS COUNTRY

BEST DAY OF MY LIFE FUCK YES

Unfortunately, I can mess up consistently in Flood!, so I haven't passed the song too many times since. I can hit Mosh 1 with relative consistency though.

UPDATE FOR TOO MUCH TOO YOUNG TOO FAST FC :]]]]]

I came home today and decided to play some... Trying to improve my total score to 20 mil. I'm sitting on 19 right now, and I think I've pretty much mapped out what I'm going to do next FC/scoreincreasing-wise.

But first, the FC.

This song is pretty easy... I mapped out a path my first run through, in which I missed a total of 7 notes, all in solos B and C [wtf lol]. So I took these sections into practice mode and realized that Solo C is easy as shit. So I added Solo A to the mix and got an FC the first time through it. I did it over and over again but never got the FC.

I kept on screwing up: or something like that... I do this from second position down to first, and I think I was fretting too quickly. Anyways, I was like "fuck this" and I tried again.

First run, I screwed up in that exact place

Second run, I nailed the solo and made it to the end, where I choked like a little bitch on the third blue in the sequence: and was like WHAT THE FUCK.

Third run, I hit everything and was all "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THAT"S A FUCKING FC OF FREEBIRD". Anyways, that's my 8th FC on the game, and I'm really happy with it. IDK how hard of an FC most people consider it to be, but the solo looks like it could be a chokefest for some, so I consider this FC pretty good. I also got a couple nice squeezes on it, so yay me :]

Now, improving scores is gonna be a bitch. Here's what I plan on improving:

5* Trapped Under Ice [I just need to practice the transition from the long reds to the chords and then back... That's a real combo breaker...]
5* Assassin [Just keep playing it 'til it happens...]
4* Satch [Should be easy... I just need a run where I get a huge note streak at the beginning and end]
4* Scream Aim Fire [IDK just luck]
4* Overkill [See SAF]
Learn Hot For Teacher main riff ['cause it's wtf hard. If I get it down, easy 5*...]
Learn to combo Crazy Train main riff
Learn to activate properly in Prisoner of Society
Learn Antisocial

LEARN TO ALTSTRUM.

And my FC goals:

-Freak on A Leash
-Hotel California
-Band on the Run?
-Obstacle 1 [if I can stand to listen to it without trying to kill myself]
-The One I Love
-Santeria
-The Joker
-Taking Suggestions from other players who think they know what would be a good song to try to FC right now.

I think I've only played it once, and got close to an FC on my sightread. It's got a couple tricks up it's sleeve though, impressive. Keep the FCs and 5*s coming.
